oh ok, because it seems to be raised a bit. Unlike the v2 where mine is completely flush with the board.
its possible

I made this to easily show the difference between the two motherboards (the nands could be different than the pictures - its the smd component layout that indicates if its v2 or v4)

I assumed it is Corona V4 with regard to "Corona Motherboard Identification", i.e. insight the NAND chip and its brand.

I also had to bridge R2C6 and R2C7 resistors which is not mentioned for Corona V2. I never thought it could be any different model than V4 so now it seems that I have an mutant :)

I have exact the same Corona unopened waiting to be RGH'd, bought the same day from the same shop, I can make a close photos of motherboard prior to installing the components if it could help to identify another possible model on the market.

Loads of good information gained from this
& maybe a new type mutant motherboard??

Thanx

It's not a mutant motherboard - its a v2 with no POST OUT - they do exist just quite rare (in my experience) - but I cant be sure until I see some pics

You can see the difference in the SMD parts in the pic i posted above - does yours have those extra parts or not ?

I would like to see pics though of this new one that you have - just for educational purposes.

After hours of trying I managed properly install my DGX, the chip seems to work perfectly, but the crystal does not make noise and still not get the glitch, what to do?
The crystal can be defective?

Glad to be at service.

So I opened up the second Corona identical to the OP, attached some pictures. According to the SMD layout around the NAND chip it really looks like V4. However, the original QSB from R/W Kit fits just fine, at least I had no problem installing it and properly read and write the NAND.

I have more pictures of it with higher resolution, should you want me to upload them somewhere just let me know.

But debug led is blinking? On my 2 coronas that i've done no sound from oscillator but I've got me key realy fast. So try with longer postout cable.

Yes, the green LED flashes, only the crystal makes no noise.

I have a V4 here that doesn't make a noise when it glitches. Is this normal?

Post ou fix adapter with R/W kit and rc26 rc 27 bridged as per tutorial.

55cm post out wire length

Never mind just answered my own question. Just got cpukey.

So it's confirmed the V1 of the Corona R/W kit does work on the V4, just did it. Now to install the C3Lite on this bad boy.

Thanks TX you guys never fail!

How did you confirm the oscillator doesnt work? By measuring it with frequency counter or by measuring it with oscilloscope?

Yes just the LED pulsates over the crystal does not work, I think you need programming.
I ask again, how did you confirm this? Does it have the wrong frequency? To low amplitude or no signal at all?

Yes, no signal in the crystal, only the green LED pulsates.

I've only done 1 V4 and I though I had something wrong cause I couldn't hear the oscillator. I guess this is normal as I got my cpu key. I did not get xell displayed though but that doesn't really matter.

I had 10 cm cpu_rst, 55cm post_out everything else stock wiring. Took a good 4 minutes to glitch. I noticed that once it glitched the center green rol light flashed once.

Im sorry to tell you this, but i dont think you know what you are talking about. But id like you to prove me wrong by posting a picture of you measuring the oscillator with your oscilloscope.

It should have 2 pins with 3.3v and probably one with ~1.6v. I probably doesnt need to tell you witch pin to measure?

If the green light are flashning, the oscillator is probably ok, and absolutley not dead like you say. If you are refering to the sound that people think is coming from it, they are wrong and that sound isnt coming from the oscillator. No "oscillator sound" when reseting = ok!

Saying that your oscillator doesnt work but the green light flashes is like saying your lights work but you have no power connected to it. They do in fact have a job, and its not to look cool.

I'll make a video and put on youtube, to make it easier to understand.

If you got problems with your install, use the templates and start your own thread. And about the oscillator, you obviously dont know that you are talking about, come back when you got some electronics knowlege and some understanding about how this circuits works.

The video as promised, the crystal just does not work.
Can someone help me?

is i said in my previous post, start your own thread.
the oscillator (what you call crystal) is fine (green led is flashing) and the video does not prove anything since you arent measuring the signal on its output!

im sure it should measure 48.000000hz +- 5 or 10 ppm.
