New FlashFXP problem!

I'll make this post quick before I go to work......

I've been using FlashFXP trial version for a little over 30 days. I've never had a problem FTPing to my Xbox. I use a crossover cable, PC=192.168.0.1 Xbox=192.168.0.3 both with a submask 255.255.255.0

I haven't changed anything at all. One day I was able to connect, the next day I get a connection fail.

Sometimes I get connected, then when I start going through the xbox folders, it will freeze then disconnect. Sometimes it will connect, sometimes it won't.

When I try to ping my xbox, sometimes I will get 4 out of 4, 3 out of 4, 2 out of 4, 1 out of 4, and even 0 out of 4 recieved/lost.

Has anyone had this problem before? Just one day the thing is working fine and BLAM, nothing at all. I don't have a firewall so that can't be it. Any help?

yes I have a static IP set......I'm trying WS FTP right now, and the same problem is happening. I can FTP to my xbox, then when I go into my E:// or C:// partition it takes a long time. By the time I get to my APPS or GAME folder it takes so long it disconnects.
Does anyone else know what could be going on? Is my network card gone bad? It's brand new. Is my xbox NC gone bad?

Turn off your firewall, or allow the box access to your network by adding a rule in the firewall settings, what settings do you have your NIC set to? FULL/HALF duplex, 10/100Mbps?

I don't have a firewall. My NIC is set to 10/ full duplex, (hasn't changed from when it was first working). The only thing I can think of is that I updated windows the other day. Could this have something to do with it?

Right click connection select properties, select configure network adapter, look for flow control and set it to 100 full duplex.

Allright, it is set to 100/full duplex. I tried to ping again and still do not get 4 out of 4. I tried to connect again using both FlashFXP and WS FTP. Both with allow it to connect, but still when I surf through the folders it will slow down then disconnect.

The card is working.....I pinged 127.0.0.1 to see if it works and it gave me 100% reply back. My FTP programs work because I can get onto xbins with no problems. The OS is just fine for this old computer.
Here is what I was doing before the problems...
Everything was FTPing fine, I was setting up a nintendo emulator. Mission accomplished. I FTP some roms over. Still everything was fine. I turned it off, came back the next day to add roms to my SNES emulator and then the problems began. The only thing that has happend between when I set up the NES and the SNES, was a window automatic update. But I'm not 100% sure if it was inbetween the times.

So you use the card into a modem? and the network card is set to automatically obtain an IP address?
I say this because you said your network addresses were PC=192.168.0.1 Xbox=192.168.0.3 both with a submask 255.255.255.0
yet you can ping 127.0.0.1, its not even on a similar network?

127.0.0.1 is a loopback network. It has nothing to do with my set up, it is just a way to see if my PC's NIC is working properly. It's working just fine....so the problem is not there.

Thank for helping with what you could Dreamreaper!!

Does anyone else have an idea what the problem is? Here is a refresher.....

This is my third modded xbox.....I'm using WIN98SE with no firewall and no antivirus, FlashFXP, WS FTP. Like usual I was able to successfully install a 160GB HDD and dvd2xbox along with a few emulators. (backing up my game is no problem.) I installed a few roms on the NES emulator by way of FTP (no problem) Then the next day or so, I connected like usual using FlashFXP. I clicked on my E:// partition the my APPS folder. The program began to lag. After about thirty seconds I was in my APPS folder. Then I selected my emulator. It began to lag again. This time it took about a minute, then it lost the connection to my xbox.
My NIC works fine. My FTP programs work fine with xbins.
When I pinged my xbox I sometimes get 4 replies, sometimes 3, sometimes 2, 1, 0, etc. I ping -l 1084 -t 192.168.0.3 for a continuous ping and it comes up about 50% loss on adverage.
I haven't done anything to my knowledge differently. There was however a detection by my internet explorer for an automatic update on my windows. I went ahead and updated. I cannot remember if my problem came up before or after the update.

my xbox is a v1.0 like all the other ones. If it is my xbox, what is wrong with it. The NIC?

did you try swapping the ethernet cable?

Go to Start-->run and type winipcfg. What settings do you have for your nic?

Do you have another computer to rule out an issue with the computer?

I ran winipcfg.....my NIC is still on 192.168.0.1, 255.255.255.0. No I don't have another computer to rule this one out.
