Hi everyone

I am new to this (grown up) forum .. which is great

but i have been messing with the 360 for a while and have 15-20 jtags under my belt

I have been able to do all my own work due to having a background in soldering, its the software part that can boggle my mind sometimes !

Now i have searched and spent most of my evening attempting to find the solution to my problem
Here goes

I have a New old stock Falcon with a blades dash

i have read the nand twice, compared them and then jtagged (the newest Boxxdr/blackaddr wiring )

flashed xell with the patched SMC and got my CPU key

Ok so this i where i am right now

i attemted to use the newest jtag tool and it stops right away and comes up with an error and wont work

i tried bestpig as soon as jtag tool did not work but no avail either

i have had Jtag tool and bestpig do this in the past, i usually have to make an xbr (8955) nand and then jtag tool/bestpig works, i think this maybe due to it being a 6xxx dash and not coming from a 7371

i have jtagged 6xxx dash xbox's before and never had a problem, ok mainly Xenon's but a few falcon's too.
But is the first time i have used the resistors and had to mess with SMC in the process

I have never updated to 7371 before i jtag, i know some say you need to but i have never done it and had no probs before

So i built the xbr (8955) nand and then run that through bestpig this time and it went through fine

I flashed this and then E79 ...

I think .. but im not sure, that this is because i dont have the smc patched files in there

are they not still in the first section of the nand with the xell info ??
Does it get overwritten by the nand file when you flash?

This is probably a real easy fix but i have hit a wall and the brain frazzle has set in

Can anyone point me to a clear tut to follow or offer advice on the problem

Thanks in advance

Steve

You got xell to work so, wiring is working, you need the smc to suit your setup, the smc is a cmd program thats why is dosn't run. if you read the read me of it and use it in a cmd window.

If XeLL is working, your SMC is already ok.

Did you check the NAND for bad blocks?
I am confused !

i wrote xell and got my CPU key by using a patched smc

So i assume that when i write a fresh nand it will overwrite the xell file

So if the fresh nand does not have any patched smc info the xbox will not boot ..

Is this wrong ? am i spaced out ??? yes !

Re the bad blocks .... i had a single bad block at 26B but it is now at 3FF

if anyone is in the UK and wants some nice clean soldering done in return for my nand working then let me know !!!!

The answer lays within your own lines, when compiling freeboot you need to use a patched smc files else it won't boot.

You wrote XeLL with a patched SMC. Where is that SMC file? Take that same SMC file and make a freeBOOT image manually with it. This way the newly created freeBOOT image will contain the same SMC info and your Jtag will work.

Ok i just need to find a clear tut on how to manually make the freeboot image

Does the TUT indicated above include this ?

Thanks for help so far i really do appreciate it

i try to solve my own problems but this one has just thrown me !

Get fbbuild from Xbins. All the instructions for making a freeBOOT image are included with it.

After downloading Fdbuild from Xbins iam none the wiser
the readme files are not really clear to me

Can ayone offer simple step by step instructions to get from my original nand to a freeboot that works with my wiring ?

Or can ayone offer to complete the work if i supply the nand and Cpu key ?

This is my wiring

I have been on this all day today and still keep getting E79
Here is what i have done today

re wrote the orig nand and then updated to 7371... with the jtag wiring in place, it produced E80 (r6t3 removed already)

Then i re wrote the orig nand and it still works fine
I redownloaded the patched xell and extracted the smc files from it and then used update my smc with these files in the folder, selected lots of different patch versions into an XBR nand that i had just injected my KV and Config into. wrote to xbox .. E79

Rewrote orig nand, boots up ok again

I am goiing mad
Help

Well...Since you're using DB1F1 and AUD_Clamp as your Jtag/SMC configuration, its best if you made hacked SMC file with these options so that you can use them in XeLL or freeBOOT image etc.

On the other hand, it seems like you aren't selecting the correct patches in UpdateMySMC with respect to your actual Jtag wiring. Run UpdateMySMC again and make sure that you change the ARGON_DATA to AUD_CLAMP selecting option #2. So your SMC configuration should be as follows:

TMS=AUD_CLAMP and TDI=HDMI or DB1F1

This SMC configuration should be according to the Jtag wiring you have done and you shouldn't get E79 anymore.

^ ok.......

I just started fresh

Used my original nand and ran it through X-nand healer to repair the bad block just in case, went through fine and fixed

Then i used these commands in nandpro
nandpro.exe nand.bin: -r16 rawkv.bin 1 1

nandpro.exe nand.bin: -r16 rawconfig.bin 3de 2

then using this file XBR_Falcon_8955_3a.bin renamed to xbr.bin

nandpro.exe XBR.bin: -w16 rawkv.bin 1 1

nandpro.exe XBR.bin: -w16 rawconfig.bin 3de 2

Then ran it through Update my SMC and selected the options you advised

I made sure the smc files that were extracted form the patched Xell were in the same folder and named falcon.bin

And still E79

I even though i have flashed Xell and got my CPU could the wiring be off ??
i think i will check wiring tomorrow just in case

Any idea ?

Regards
Steve

So, XeLL worked for you, and you got your CPU Key? It means that your Jtag wiring is fine. Now, since you have the CPU Key, all you need to do is to make a freeBOOT image with the SMC of the XeLL image you used.

Open the XeLL image in 360 Flash Dump Tool and extract its SMC. Then use the decrypted SMC file while making the freeBOOT image. This freeBOOT image will have the same SMC as the XeLL file you used earlier and should work fine with your Jtag wiring just as XeLL did.

I dont know how to manually make a freeboot image so i use either best pig or jtag tool
can i use either ? can i point either program to use the patched SMC from the Xell ??

Thanks
Steve

What?...You mean you can't understand what the instructions say for using fbbuild?

Anyways, how about using this program: Easy Freeboot It is a program which will help you make the freeBOOT image easily.
