I have sucessfully modded a 1.6 B a few months ago with no problems. Today I've been attempting to mod a 1.6A and am totally stumped. The chip is a 2.6 CE, the blue LED on the chip is on, the three switch lights work, and the disk and network activity lights work. When I power up the Xbox it comes up just like no mod is installed. No flashbios screen. I have removed the chip and installed bios with a programmer. Still nothing after trying several differant Bios's. Currently I have Evox for 1.6 with the .137 extension which I believe adds the large disk drive support. Any ideas what I could be missing here?

Have you enabled the chip? Choosen the coorect bank for which the bios is on?

Also if you used the flash programmer and ONLY flashed the bios then flashbios will no longer be on the chip as the X2 defaults to bank 1 when it is flashed regardless of what bank you have it set on. To get the Bios onto Bank to you need to use X2BM to build a bios file that contains Flashbios on Bank1 and X2 bios on bank2.

Problem solved. I found a missing solder connection on the LPC rebuild kit.
Fixed the connection, turned it on, booted the Autoinstaller disk, installed Xbox Media center as the Dashboard. Lesson learned - Check and recheck all connections!
