Bought a new replacement laser from amazon installed it and it does not read disks of any kind (media/games/B/ups). After testing with my meter it gives a reading of 3.4 (i'm led to believe this is low fromt tinternet:)

Should i just send it back for a replacement or tweak the pots as its so low anyway? I dont fully understand how the lasers work i am guessing that you are adding extra juice to the laser to make it more powerful?

Thanks in advance

Possibly a faulty new laser. Make sure u have removed all of the anti static blob. Check that u haven't damaged or kinked the laser ribbon.

Thanks for the replies chaps, found an old benQ drive in my cupboard that works. May just put this one down to experience (unless this BenQ laser dies later). I am still a little curious about the off the shelf resistance(??) on these things
