New mother board Pin header with pin 16!

Ive got a replacement motherboard which has a pin header in but it has pin 16 present which will not fit a X3 chip.

Anyone know if I just cut off the pin 16 if it will work?

Did you get it back from M$?! if so check your TSOP bridges...lol i think they reflashed your TSOP or EEPROM... anyways... you can cut it off just cut it to the botim.

no bought it second hand, and the guy who I bought it from done a great job on the soldering so didnt want to de-solder.

I will get my best snips now and see if I can cut it well!

Well, if you can cut it all the way down you should be good, but if you have a soldering iron you can take it out pretty easy without bothering the rest of the pins. Just get some desoldering braid, lay it on the pin and stick your iron on it. Should take the solder right up and you can then pull out the pin.

thanks for the replys, Ive got my x3 all working now, just wobbled the pin until it snapped right in the plastic with no pin pointing out.

Had a problem with the X3 saying initialising ide controller but that was due to my faulty DVD drive, now have a different drive in and working 100% :-D
