New Problem with my x3

ok, after getting everything working, i noticed my chip is very sensitive to movement, any slight movement and the power is cut from it, now before everyone goes on saying its my soldering, i can move the actual wires and nothing happens, the power stays there but the second i even tap the modchip the power gets disconnected, one thing i did notice was that when i put the chip into the pin header it is easily moveable like you can rock it in the pin header, a member on irc (tehsoul) told me to bend one row out, then put the chip there and align it and put it in the other row of pin's, this made the fit tighter it no longer moves but the power still gets cut off, for the power to stay on it i need to twist the chip to either side...i am starting to think that the female end on the chip for the pin header has a problem, does anyone have any suggestions?

Yeah.. Check your soldering..

You probably have a pin in your pin header that is loose and barely touching the board. When you push down on the chip, it probably pushes away from the underside of the mobo, thus loosing connection.

i had a similar prob. i found that mine was happening because every time i put my dvd back in it was pushing down the chip and causing the 5v post wich i thought i had insulated but found out not well enough, to come in contact with the motherboard, once i insulated this post properly i no longer have the problem....hope this helps

Make sure you didn't melt the pinheader... Check to see if all the pins are the same length. I imagine you'd notice if they werent when you were bending one side... But it's just a suggestion. When I was fixing mine... I noticed one of the pins was a little lower then the rest, and I had to re-melt the pins plastic... push the pin up a little, then my connection was good.

i dont think chips sit very securly on the pin header. take some electrical tape, and tape the chip down if your sodering was correct and it still cut the power try the tape. cheers

.....and if that doesnt work..recheck your soldering. Eventually, your box wont even turn on. As it heats and cools, the loose solder point will no longer make contact. Check pins #6, #9, and #15. One of those is most likely the problem.
