I am new to the scene so any help would be appreciated. I have 2 what seem to be new plastic wrapped Lite-on DG-16D2S Hw ver: A0A1 FW ver: 74850c that i got in a box of electronics i bought. What do i need to test to make sure these drives work. And what would i need to have to use these as replacement drives for say my customers.

You have two options:
If they are brand new in the packaging, there is a good chance that they both work fine.
We recommend the X360USB Pro for drive firmware flashing, but you can try the SATA chipset on your PC's motherboard (if it has one).
The JungleFlasher PDF explains everything you need to know.
- Flash them with 0800 firmware and see if they rip an original game properly.
- Flash them with LT+ 3.0 firmware and test them in an RGH console.
If they are brand new in the packaging, there is a good chance that they both work fine.
