new to xbox and xecuter have some questions, help please

i have been doing the wii homebrew and ps3 stuff for a while and decided to get the kids the system with kinect for christmas this year. we got a 4gb system package with the kinect included for 160$ since i used someones discount at wal mart so now on to modding it :biggrin:.

some questions i have to start (again i have been reading but totally new to xbox 360 slim) what xecuter products are needed to play backed up games and do homebrew? there are so many options of things from xecuter and im honestly not sure which to buy. i have soldering skills so that is not a issue. but where to start if someone has a great thread to read ill be happy to do so. but which xecuter products do which i mean what "set" do i need to buy to accomplish this.

also is there a way to use a hdd i already own inside since we bought the 4gb model i already bought a hdd case (not sure if i should i should have or needed it) but can i use a 750gb or 1tb drive inside or will it not work (or only see the first 250-320gb of it from some reading i did already) also not to get the system banned just from swapping the drive.

i think for now my last question is does using the xecuter products get my system banned? and if so should i use only the original discs for those types of games? we have 2 kids one 5 and the other 6 and the discs get trashed quickly so i dont want to ruin 60$ games all the time. my main concern here is to be able to backup games we buy to be able to play off cheaper blanks so the originals stay safe. with the wii i got tired of replacing discs so thats how i got started. i have extensive tech and computer backround this is just the first time in dealing with xbox and i want to do it right.

sorry to not add mobo and drive info yet but we literally just opened the box last night and i have not had a chance to check but it is a brand new nov 2011 build date.

we can't really help you unless you open your console and give us the details but with a november MFR date i doubt that there is much you can do with it unless you get a DG-16D4S drive.

The only thing you can do is to do a RGH on it if you want to use Homebrew and a larger Hard Drive.

Flashing a drive will not help. That will only play backups.

So check out RGH or Coolrunner and see the tutorials. But if you have a new motherboard, it will not possible as it does not have the required chip do it.

So search coolrunner, and rgh

"play backed up games and do homebrew" i had a box with an october MFR date and it had a corona motherboard and a DG-16D4S drive. he more than likely has the corona mobo but could be lucky like me and have a DG-16D4S which he can flash to "play backed up games"

The person wants homebrew and to use a larger hard drive..... So flashing is not a viable option.

Check your manufacture date against the thread in this site to see if you have the newer mobo or not. If you probably have, sell it, return it and get one that will glitch.

Or keep it for your original games and buy a cheap falcon from a reputable person on here. See traders thread.

sorry i thought it was nov i just checked and its oct 31 2011 but looks like im still outta luck then?? i dont think i can return it now though since we bought it with a huge discount using my cousins employee discount and got the 100$ wal mart gift card with it..and i would think they would all be newer at wal mart or no??

anyway to get a older mobo and swap it out?? any chance of these ever being able to have anything done to them since sadly i dont think i can return it. this sucks arghhh

any rep place to get the drive from at least for now?? also i see my local gamestop has used ones for a decent price if i buy one what should i look for?? or how do i get one that is glitchable??

Just till them you bought a PS3 and you like it better than the Xbox :D or just keep it for Playing XBL and buy a used one, I'v seen them on Craigs List for aound $100 to 150 all the time, just make sure you find one way before 08-01-11. I would find one that was dated in 2010

well they said i can return it. but is it worth returning?? what we did was get the system for 279$ (computer mistake should have been 299$) MINUS his employee discount of 28$ dollars plus we got a hundred dollar gift card with it so it came to 151$. we used the gift card already so that's why we might still have a issue returning it. i would end up buying a second remote anyway which are what 40-50$ plus buy the kinect piece for 99$ but we paid 151$ for the whole set 4gb one remote and kinect. so they said if i return it i will get 151 plus tax back only for the whole bundle which is pretty much the price of kinect add on and a remote anyway just sucks i couldnt get the trinity board i called all local wal mart within 1.5 hours of here and none have the 4gb bundle in stock right now to swap it with.

is it really worth returning or should i keep it for live like people said?? if i return it i would basically spend the same for just a remote and the kinect piece.

but now the issue is where do i find a older legit system??

THANK YOU TO EVERYONE HERE!!! if someone has a legit slim modded or not id love to get one reasonable as long as decent condition.


last question if i change the dvd drive to flash this one will it get banned playing LEGIT games i mean the original copies because i changed the drive out? or should i leave this one as is?? and a pic sorry for poor quality i tried best i could with this camera..

you can go to gamestop and ask for a used console that's before 7/20/2011 if u really want to do homebrew then go ahead idk about the getting ban for flashing dvd drive and if u could take a pic more to the left that help

hard to see anything to the left but i dont think i see a nand chip or hana unless im missing it. im pretty familiar with circuit boards and such as i used to work at ibm repairing the equipment in photolithography and bake/etch depts in the clean room there as a tech.

can i really specify a date at gamestop??

Worth a shot I guess but you would probably have more luck when the store isn't busy and try to get a young looking geek of a kid lol. I'm sure they will know what you are up to when you ask. :rolleyes2:
