new way to frag ....

so I have a xbox mobo lieing around , pinheader, boots into original bios no prob, hook up 2.6ce chip, bank 1 cromwell, bank 2 x2 5032,, bank 1 scrolls black and white and freezes (no cursor movement) bank 2 bots gets to where it says xecuter rox my box, reboots then flashes error 21. I have 2 chips both flashed the same. both do the same thing, no matter what kind of HD or DVD I use it frags like that...modchip turned off boots like normal but no drive locked to it yet.


any insight on whats happening?

none of the two things you have described actually sounds like a frag

FRAG = flashing red and green, does you LED around the eject button? That is what a frag is! Usually indicated bad soldering install or an incorrect flashed bios!

you said bank 1 scrolls in black and white and that bank 2 reboots to an error 21. At no point have you mentioned it flashing red and green. does it actually do this?

Well I didn't think I needed to state it fragged, since when ever an error is displayed on screen the Xbox is Frag'ing. but since you ask yes it does, it frags when on bank 2 (either 5032 or 5035), shows up amber , then flashes green twice, stays green and scrolls on bank 1 (no matter new or used chip, flashbios scrolls.) and when mod chip is out or disabled it frags cause there is no HD locked to it.

okay so what you are saying is:

that with chip out or diabled you get exactly what we would expect as no locked HD in.

does not sound like a frag on bank 2, you are saying it flashes green twice, and stays green. Thats not a frag - a frag will literally keep flashing red/green/red/green and on and on. Yours is not acutally a frag is it, you say it's staying green. this must be another problem.

no, original post i stated it booted up to xecuter rox my box, then rebooted then went to error 21 (errors make your box frag) then you said I never stated it fraged I then in my 2nd post state that I didn't think I needed to state it fraged cause if it goes to error it's going to frag. Then I stated Since you asked YES it did frag on bank 2. and that it went to amber flashed green twice then stayed green on bank 1.

okay, sounds like bank 2 might have a bad flash. Should concentrate on bank 1 so we can try and reflash.

so you have not got flashbios on bank 1, you have got cromwell flashed on it?

yeah I thought the same thing , put the chip in a working mod and it works fine. this is the configuration for the 2 modchips that are my 2 ginny pigs. I used them in one working system to test them, they work flawlessly. *edit these are both Xecuter 2.6s*

Chip 1:
Bank1: Cromwell 3.0.1 Flashbios
Bank2: X2 5032

Chip 2:
Bank1: Cromwll 3.0.3 Flashbios
Bank2: X2 5035

Now when I boot up the system and I don't have a mod chip connected (DVD and HD are hooked up) it boots fine but the hd is not locked so it frags on error 5.

Chip1:
Bank1: boots, light goes amber then flashes green two times then stays Green
Bank2: boots, goes to "xecuter rox my box" reboots then goes to the Error screen displaying error #21 and frags

Bank1: boots, light goes amber then flashes green two times then stays Green
