New X3 Install won't flash

Just installed a new X3CE in a 1.1 xbox. It won't flash via http, hd or disc. I've disconnected the pro switch and everything. I've read the manuals and all. THE FLASH PROTECT IS NOT ON.

Judging by the other topic this problem is not unique to myself.

Anybody got any suggestions other then read the manuals (which are severaly limited).

Screen goes to:

"unknown flash! halting"

Any ideas?

Flash protect is on, check light on chip is red (ignore what colour the switch light is on front panel).
