yea i have tried different banks....ive searched the boards for hours upon hours looking for different things that i can do....what i did to mess it up was i turned it off while it was updating the avalaunch board, thats what i believe happened...i didnt think it was updating so i just turned off the box, now i cannot boot into the backup bios and when i try 2 load the orig dash, i get an error code 5, i think ice tried every combination of banks that i could....right now, im tryna ftp into the box

the box didnt seem like it was doin anything when i was tryna update the dash using the ether net at my school... so what i did was, i changed the ip of my xbox to that of the ip assigned to me by my university and i used the ethernet connection to try and update the dash, i didnt see anything happening so after a couple of minutes i tried to restart the box using my controller, i thought the xbox just froze so i cut it off and when i turned it back on it just frags now. when i hold both buttons for the backup it will restart a couple of times and theyn stay off, while when i hold the power button the green dash will begin to load, then it brings me to a error code 5, drive unlocked

it doesnt sound like its a bios prob , it looks like your chip is out of place or one of the soldering point got loose , can you check the soldering ??

If you had just messed up your Bios, then the backup would still work. Locking the drive in another X-Box wont help, as it the lock code needs to come from the Xbox you're using.

Check your install, as it sounds like a hardware prob.

Personally I think that you were writting to your hard drive and cut power in the middle of it. That can mess up the FAT table of the hard drive.

FAT is file allocation table... it tells the xbox were everything is on your drive

When the XBox is giving that error drive unlocked... I think that's a read error on the first partition of the xbox...

I think that you need to re-format the hard drive.

But... you would think that you'd be able to load the chip bios though... so I may be dead wrong...

Lastly if you were hucking that thing to and from school then you probably jolted one of your solder points.

Those are the things that I would check.
