Hi everyone, sorry for this being a bit basic but a guy I used to work with modded my xbox a couple of years ago (with an executer chip, version unknown to me). It's always worked in the early days but now when I switch on the XBox the power button goes green flashes red after a few seconds and a screen comes up telling me to conatct "Customer support" so I phoned microsoft... na only joking I didn't! :)

I guess the first thing to do before any fault finding is to ascertain what kind of chip have... how do I go about doing this? I got a feeling it's version 2 of some variety or any other help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Hi

Thanks for the speedy reply, mine has 4 switches on. There is nothing obvious that shows an error code on the screen other than in the top left hand corner the number 16 appears.

Does this help with the fault finding?

Thanks

Also to add to the fault finding if I start it up with a game in the drive then I get error code 5. Where can I get the BIOS's from and how do I flash it?

Thanks

Thanks once again! I'm downloading auto installer deluxe.
About locking the hard drive I noticed when I was googling this people mentioned this but I promise I have never touched the settings on it atall how would I go about unlocking / locking it?

Also you mentioned formatting the hard drive, is there a specific file system / software I need to use or will FAT32 / NTFS do?

Thanks again for all your help, I can almost see the (green) light at the end of the tunnel!!! :D
