hi all,

I'm a complete novice to Xbox 360's. I bought my 360 2nd hand a few months ago and its banned as it has been modded. I believe the mod is to the dvd drive. It uses the standard Xbox dashboard. I've been trying for ages to add EvoX to the 360 but keep failing every time. I've read page after page of how to do it but it fails everytime. I've copied the evox iso file onto dvd and tried to install it but it gives me an error that its not an xbox game. I've tried to ftp to the box but this fails too ( probably due to the fact there is not an ftp client on the 360). Please please help. How can I get Evox to install onto my 360? Can I connect the hard drive to the pc using the transfer kit and add it to the hdd this way? All advice will be appreciated before the 360 goes through the window lol....thanks

There is a difference between modded Xbox360 and a Jtagged Xbox360. The things you are talking about are only possible on a Jtagged Xbox360.

You should search for what a Jtagged Xbox360 is. Once you get the idea, all your questions will be answered automatically.

Ah ok that explains alot..............There is so much on the net it gets a little confusing.

So is there no way to softmod a 360 without going in and soldering stuff to the motherboard? Are there any alternative dashboards too?

Thanks

the only alternative dashboards are for jtags only. you can soft mod the drive to play backups on a standard 360 but thats about it. the hombrew section has a lot of information on jtags and the requirements for having the mod done, i'd suggest starting there mate as its all i ever needed for explanation, it can be a lot of misinformation just searching google if you don't know the reliable sources that well. here is my favourite source anither reliable one would be xboxscene.

just for the record i would love to see a 360 version evox just for nostalgia reasons lol. it rocked!

Thanks everyone, really appreciate the advice. When it comes to Wii's, no problem, soft modded mine myself to play backups off an external hard drive. I want to be able to do the same with the 360 too. I've only had the 360 a few months so its all new to me and as i mentioned, when running searches, lots of rubbish comes up so am glad I'm now at the right place for the correct information.

I dont feel confident enough to solder so may see if i can buy one already done. Thanks again all.

I soft modded my wii as well.:p The 360 scene is a bit different because Microsoft are smarter with security than Nintendo.

But yeah, you need a jtagged 360. The best bet is probably on amazon or ebay, or buying an old 360 and getting someone to jtag it. Good luck! :D

Also the team xecuter site has some good recommendations around the forums for where to buy 360s etc. Here's one: http://www.team-xecuter.com/forums/showthread.php?p=321666#post321666
Hope this helps!
