I'm considering having my 360 modded by 360mods

I still haven't had a few q's cleared up through searching and reading.

When creating backups do you always have to open both the xbox and the pc, one or the other, or none?

My badass box is at work and I do not have a pc at home.
I assume that the curretn firmware would at some point have to be updated.

I am kindof under the assumption that you always have to open one or the other to create a backup.

Also I currently have DVDFab, will this work for 360 backups?

Thanks

In order to flash 360,you will need to open it up and connect to sata port on pc.which drive do you have in your 360?I dont know if dvdfab will work, imgburn and clonecd are recommended as well as dvd decrypter.unless you purchase a SH-D162C DRIVE and flash with kreons firmware you will always have to open up 360 to backup games.Me personally can only flash a TS-H943A at the moment!

anhell28, thanks for the respone. I believe I have the samsung (I haven't been home to check), but i'll clarify later. I didn't think the dvdfab would work, but having a 2yr old(this is why I can't have nice things) i've quickly learned that I need to back up my investments. I've looked a little further and I am beginning to think about modifying the dvd drive. There are several different products out there and so I want to learn about the different options available. My soldering skills are remedial at best but, DVD drives are a dime a dozen, so why not try. I understand that I need a specifically flashed DVD burner in odrder to produce readable discs for the xbox. That being said, which chips offer me the most ease? 360 Blaster Tool by Xecuter,Globe 360, NME chips. I'd be more than happy to run them in conjunction. Thanks for the input guys.

If you are at all in doubt, just send it in to 360mods for Textbook to mod himself.

I've heard nothing but good comments about his services.

Stay away from chips - they run the risk of knackering your board, and cannot be updated (without buying a resodlering) should MS come up with attempts to block our ability to make backups.

Hotswapping is only necessary when backing up the games. With the firmware hack and a proper backup, you would use it just like an original game.
