Hey Guys -

I've been messing around with console mods for years now for all types of consoles. I started modding my 360 by flashing the drive with LTE long ago, upgraded the hard drive, then a few months ago installed an xkeeyy which worked very well for me. Since I have much more fun modding than actually playing the games plus want the additional options, I want to JTAG / RGH my console next.

I have down some research, but have read some information which to contradict the other. I decided to post my questions here in hopes of clearing things up a bit so I may get started.

Below are the specs of my setup, 360 mod hardware I currently own, followed by the questions I have. Any answers or suggestions would be greatly appreciated - Thanks!

System Setup
- XBOX 360 Phat (Falcon)
- Running latest Dashboard (2.0.16747.0 I think as I updated it just a few days ago)
- Lite-On Drive (Currently Flashed to LTE F/W)
- 320gb Hard drive
- xkeeyy running 2.01-4 F/W

Owned XBOX 360 Mod Hardware
- Xecuter X360USB Pro
- Xecuter CK3 Mini
- Probe 3 (Actually made it myself using this link since I didn't want to wait for shipping - it worked perfectly! :))
- Soldering Iron (Few different sizes / I'm not very good at it yet)
- Ton of various computer parts, cables, etc

My Questions

  1. Should I perform a JTAG, RGH, or are they both considered too similar now? I want the easiest / safest mod to install, but if different install options provide different feature sets, the most important thing to me is file system + FTP access.
  2. Given the equipment I already own, what current hardware would I need to purchase to JTAG / RGH my 360? New hardware comes out fairly often so wanted to post to see what the latest & greatest would be. Would it be important to verify that my board is a Falcon before purchasing anything or are they all pretty much universal. Hope Dashboard won't be an issue
  3. There are probably hundreds of guides / tutorials online for JTAG / RGH. I much prefer documentation with screenshots over videos. If I order the equipment today, which installation guide(s) (on or off this forum) would you suggest?

I think that about covers it. Any other thoughts or suggestions you have would be much appreciated. Thanks Guys!!!

I would r-jtag my unit its the most stable for the dash you are currently on with good boot times. Also the install guide would be in the rjtag part of the fourm

If u are going to rgh your xbox then u won't be able to play online to use your ODE. Best bet is to go for dual nand with the tx demon and r-jtag. However the demon shud only be attempted by a pro.

If you are planning on installing an RGH on your unit, you wouldn't be able to go online without stealth. How ever if you decide to install dual nand, you would be able to use the non hacked nand to go online, if you were to use the hacked nand you would need to use stealth to go online. In my opinion I would suggest installing an RGH Dual NAND, I recon its more stable than the JTAG and its more reliable.

1. Did you read what geek put before you posted this as you said exactly the same thing just in different words.
2. I think you need to read martins rgh guide for noobs again as I feel you do not understand the dash and cd limitations for certain hacks. Eg saying jtag is less stable and less reliable when the op stated using dash 16747, which is incompatible with jtag, is just plain stupidity

Hi, never one to to put somebody down but you'll need to be good at soldering before you attempt any of the hacks, if you do go for the demon I'd maybe get a pro to do it for you. But by all means have a go, life's for learning new things, but take your time and learn to solder first (get a temp controlled soldering iron if you haven't got one) and practice lots (like on some old pc parts) and then some more. And have a good read of the stickies on the forum theres sooo much info on this site its unbelievable!!!!
Good luck.

I know the demon suggests pro only install, but it can be done if you are good with the iron and READ!!! My 1st attempt at a rgh was a demon on a corona and I did fine! I suggest get a iron with different tips/temp controls as stated and practice! I did my homework (reading/and asking question) and iron work! I purchased practice pcb and old xbox boards to practice on before attempting anything on real board!! After that if not comfortable send it out to get done!! Another thing to think about is, sometimes it's cheaper to get it done for you instead of buying everything that's need to do it yourself!!
