newly modded box...need help

I just got this xbox from my friend. He got it modded and its pretty cool but i don't know alot about it. Maybe you guys can answer some of my questions.

1. When the box boots up the LED turns red, and stays red. Is this bad?

2. When i go to "emulators" and click "n64" the screen goes blank, and stays blank. It does this on other things as well.

3. When i disable the chip, my box frags.

It's weird because everything else works perfectly...i can play the games and everything. Whats goin on?

My xbox mod executer2 has problem with video my little boy was playing with it and i tried to figure out what he did so i went in to config magic and it all the sudden the screen started flickering and turned black and white.Can somebody please reply.

Legion, post in your own thread, your problem has nothing to do with the original.

1. You can set the color of the eject LEDs through options in the bios, so that is likely the reason it is red. This is not a problem.
2. The emulator may not be there. If you have a dashboard with a file manager, browse to the folder and see. With most dashboards you can setup the menu items using an XML file, so he may have had N64 for a while and then deleted it, but forgot to remove it from the XML file. What dash are you using?
3. Do you get an error number or anything?

I am using XBMC dashboard. It was the one that was on it. Is it good? I keep hearing things about like evox and stuff.

and when it frags it says "service required. call customer support" and it has an "05" on the top left

ok so i fixed the error code 5 by locking the harddrive...and now when i try to boot to msdash, i get error code 16

which tells me that i need to set my clock before upgrading the HDD...and the only way to do this is by putting the original drive back in. well 1 problem. i don't have the original drive. what can i do?

I personally use Avalaunch as a dashboard. I know XBMC does have an XML config file though, so that is probably where your non-working apps are stored.

Download copy of Slayer's AutoInstaller. That should be able to put the Microsoft dashboard back on. You don't want to format the drive though.

so i think my problem is that my HDD doesn't have the microsoft dash on it.

how easy is it to put it on the harddrive?????i don't want to completely reformat the drive or anything because everything else works fairly well.

also...the n64 emulator. i use the file manager thingy and i look at the F drive i beleive it is and go into the emulators/n64 folder. i see files there. tehre is a default.xbe file and i think thats the one that is supposed to launch the emulator. but it sill isn't working. any sugestions? acan i redownload it somewhere else and put it on the xbox cuz obviously this one isn't going to work.

just download slayers and burn it to a cd/dvd and boot it up in box
slayers disc will help you to rebuild your c drive with the original m$ files
i'm not sure of the exact options you have to select as i've never used it before, the disc makes things easy though

do you not have the orig dashboard files on it?
what happens if you go into system management the select M$ dash?? if its there that is!
