Next step to read xbox nand with demon?

Hello new here first time buy xecuter products and so far install seems pretty straight forward. The part im getting confused with is that another thread said that the demon can be used to read the original xbox nand i have the demon all soldered in but i dont know what to do next. I purchased the DemoN, Coolrunner Rev C, and the xecuter unlock kit v3 all at once. My end goal is to have a dual boot option with 1 nand to go on xbl and the other for homebrew and backups.

I have not wired anything for the coolrunner yet as the other thread that i read said to just install the demon first so that i could be sure that everything in that dept. is working properly first and foremost. I just wanted to be sure that this is accurate and if so do i just not install the small ribbon cable for now?

Heres a few pics of what im working with so far.

i know i still need to wire the ground wire from the demon switch to the chassis of the xbox and run the ribbon cable from the demon to the switch as well.

After those are done im under the impression that i just plug the xbox into the wall do not turn on the xbox and run my usb cable from the demon to my pc and from there i should be able to read the nand. Am i correct in my assumption here?

This is a gift for my stepson and i really just wanna make sure im not gonna give him his xbox broken as a bday gift so any pointers from the pros here would be greatly appreciated.

ive been reading all day trying to find out what to do next and have only seen tutorials showing people with the demon, coolrunner, nandx, and qsb's

problem im having is that i only have the coolrunner and the demon. i plugged in the console after putting it back together turned it on and the xbox works fine goes to stock dash, i press the sync button to switch to the demon and nothing happens i hear the chime to turn it on but nothing happens and the device is not detected by jrunner or toolbox. the led on the back never turns on.

i was thinking that after installing the demon alone i could read the xbox nand get my cpu key and then install the coolrunner and program it and be good to go.

i really have tried to find out what to do next and ive read through about 100 different pages abotu the demon and cannot find any documentation about my problem.

im sure it might be out there somewhere but finding the same setup im using is next to impossible seems everyone else is using nandx to get there nand read from there xbox then they use that to program the coolrunner and demon from there.

sorry again if im just overlooking something simple and sound pretty incompetent. any help is appreciated.

the coolrunner is not wired up right now so im sure the switch wouldnt make much difference, aside from that i have the demon all wired up now and i was able to read the xbox original nand 2x and confirm they are identical.

now my problem is that after reading the nand and creating/writing the ecc to the demon nothing happens when i turn on the xbox with the demon nand selected. also for some reason its very finicky about working properly.

sometimes when i plug in the demon to my pc its recognized but other times it is not. i have went over the solder points multiple times and i cant seem to find what is causing it to work 1 minute then not the next.

i can literally plug it into my pc without moving the console one bit and it will work and allow me to read from both nands just fine then i can pull the usb from my pc walk away for a few then come back to it and it will not be recognized at all.

has anyone else had this problem?

So you flashed the ECC to your Demon and expect it to boot without the CR wired up? There's your first mistake. The console will turn on if everything is installed properly, but you'll be greeted with a black screen as Xell will never boot without the CR glitching the console. As far as the Demon not being recognized moment to moment via your PC, re-install the drivers to make sure they're in good shape, and move the ribbon cable going to the ext-usb module around, it could be getting pinched somewhere..happened on my phat, just left the case screws a touch looser so the DVD drive didn't crush the ribbon, never had a problem since.

Ok. If you want to test that your demon is working before moving on then flash York stock NAND image to the demon and check that both stock and de,on nands boot the stock image.

After that wire your coolrunner and flash the coolrunner with the new xsfv file. Then create your ec and flash it to the demon. Boot off the demon to get your CPU key then you can finally build your glitch image and boot it from the demon. It's essentially the same method as using a NAND x as jrunner automatically detects demon and sends everything through it.

okay followed your advice i flashed my orignal nand to the demon and it worked great it would boot from demon and original no problem.

i have since then wired up the coolrunner flashed the xsvf for demon trinity to the coolrunner using jrunner program, i then wrote the ecc to the demon nand but now the original nand boots up just fine but when i try to boot the demon nand nothing happens at all.

also the red light in the center of the ring of light is on my soldering on the coolrunner wires looks really solid ive inspected them all in detail with a magnifying glass. so i really dont think this is a solder issue but i may be mistaken. any further advice is appreciated im getting closer here.

Ok you should check your ribbon cables. On my install the demon itself was an awesome install the board fits so sweetly that it would probably solder itself if you asked nicely. The cables however were a faffing nightmare don't know if it is the fittings or the cable that were bad but got there eventually and had similar problems even crashing jrunner constantly. Need some pics of your install as well to rule out that side.

If your coolrunner isn't showing a green light are you sure you programmed it? Your EEC image won't boot without the coolrunner glitching.

I had the same issue when I had the shielded cable connected that came with the CR kit. I ended using the regular one that came with the CR kit, which I read here on the website that Jasper's or just the Phats worked better without the shielded cable. I replaced with the regular wire and the CR started glitching. I don't that is the same with the slims. If the red light is on then the COol runner is on. You should see a green light blink every so often meaning its trying to glitch. I might not be correct but check your shielded cable and maybe adjust a little.

I had problems finding more complete guides on what to do step by step to the end. Like what to do once u get it to boot from the eject button but I had to take off my demon I think I got a bad one. Still trying to figure out a few things about mine.

I had a problem with mine not wanting to start on and off sometimes. One minute it would turn on next min nothing.
