Having just spent some money getting my 0078f/w hacked to back-up some games I'am now faced with NFS:Carbon asking for a update to enable play?

Firstly what is this update and where do I get it from?
And will it detect my hacked f/w?

Thanks for your help!

I updated w/ nfs carbon and it worked fine, I don't think any updates mess w/ your firmware if you have a hitachi drive, samsung is another story though.

I had a backup of Call of duty 3 was not trying to go on live or do anything illegal, but while you are logged into Live it looks for updates of every game once you attempt to play it. I accepted the "game update" after it applied the update the games started to load then flashed up with an error the disc is unreadable or something along those lines and now the backup no longer works. I have the original so I did not care, I just have to be careful not to scratch it now as the backup will no longer play. Presume this is Microsoft’s fix for combating piracy.
Has anyone else had this issue?
FYI. I have an ms28 flashed with 5.2b and using HP media.

It's your media, not Microsoft. Use Verbatim media.

I have also backed up NFS-C and it asked for the update. I updated, then it says that this game cannot be played in this region. Did I back it up incorrectly? The original works fine.

You're contradicting yourself there. If the original (from your region) works fine, then the backup would too. The only way your "backup" would be out of region is if you didn't back it up at all. You probably downloaded the game - and unfortunately, we can't provide support for downloaded games. If you want help with ripping your original copy - tell us how you backed up your original and we'll help you out.

How did you solve the problem with Dirty disc error?
he used better media

I use cheap media and have never had probs...but if you run into problems with dirty disc errors and such then payin extra for verbatims will solve your frustration
