no .bin file

i downloaded x3_3029.rar from xbins but there is not bin file in it..... only a text file..... did i do somethin wrong? or am i just stupid

i was stupid, i used winace to open it.... downloaded winrar and there it was

You're the second person in 2 weeks to do that. I'd never heard of it before (I guess the internal windows ZIP compression and WinRAR just do everything I need).

I use WinRAR for everything. Compression algorithms are pretty damned good and beat WinZip. I used to use Powerarchiver which opened everything - I found that it didn't compress as well.

If anyones interested, I have some old ARJ, ARC, and LHZ compression utilities floating around here on 5.25" disc ... pity I don't have a 5.25: drive hooked up.

WinRAR is great. Compression is good. Only problem is that most corporate computers don't have WinRAR on them, but ZIP files open straight up as a folder.

I had the same problem recently - I wanted to open a RAR file at work, so I downloaded the DOS executables and did it from the command line. Not as tidy, but worked all the same :)
