No Bios Update found....Halting! and i think i've done it right!

I've read as much as i can on this forum, and i can't find the answer. So i have to ask......Here is my problem:

Installed X3 CE in my 1.0 with an Xapter3, no problem. I have X3_3294 and have burned a disk following all the tutorials, no problem. When i load bios fom disc i get "CD-ROM Label: X3_Bios No Bios Update found....Halting!". I have tried burning discs every way imaginable, read 4 different tutorials. I keep getting the same thing.

What am I doing wrong?

Any help would be greatly appriciated

first thing i can think of is did you rename the bios to "bios.bin" ?

give us a list of exactly what you did step by step - really need to know exactly how you have burnt your disk!!!

By your own admission your board is a V1, this means you have a thompson drive, These drives do not work with CD media; use a DVD and all will be well in your world....

I have followed all tutorials exactly in regards to burning my bios disk.

The only thing that may be affecting it is that when i installed the mod chip i did not wire in the d0/LAN/HDD cable, or the external switch. I was told that i didn't really need it because all i want to do is flash my chip to play burned games.

I think i'm gonna install the switch and see if that will remedy my problem.

You don't need the D0/LAN/HDD wires. They will not help you out here. (they will make your xbox look pretty/informative with some led's but that's all it will do for you.

External switch disconnected means default to 1mb bank, so that should not affect you either. But if you do plug it in, try booting to your 2nd 1mb bank (off on off off) and see if flashbios 3.0.3 will work for you.

i connected to xbox via my network and flashed it that way and it worked. Now i just gotta figure out a dashboard!!
