First of all, I would like to apologize in advance, as I am asking a question that has been repeatedly asked throughout these forums. Regardless of that fact, my search left me with inconclusive results. I will try to provide you with as much information as possible about my setup and my situation below.
The specs: I am attempting to flash the X3 Bios 3294 v16 plus onto a version 1.6b xbox with an Xecuter 3 CE chip installed.
The problem: I have renamed the binary file to "bios.bin" (without the quotation marks, of course) and have wrote it to both CD-Rs and CD-RWs of varying manufacturers along with a 242 MB dummy file both through Nero (all proper settings applied and double-checked) and M$ Windows Explorer. After booting up FlashBIOS 3.0.3 (protection off, bank 5 (i.e. on, on, off, on)) and selecting the "Flash Bios from CD/DVD" option, the drive opens. I drop the disc into the optical drive and change the switch configuration to flash the first 1024 kb bank (i.e. protection off; on, on, off, off). Instead of showing the flash status bar, the daunting "No Bios Update found... Halting!" message appears on my screen. What bothers me the most is that it still reads the name of the disc I have inserted, seemingly implying that I somehow managed to injure the binary file in some way or another. Although I have not ran an MD5 hash checksum yet, the bios was (of course) obtained through xbins, so I doubt it is changed or damaged.
The plausible solution that I have read so far would be to install the bios using the network, but with my current residence it is a little more complex. However, if this is the only answer, I'm sure I have a crossover cable laying around here somewhere... perhaps under that rather large pile of clothes in the corner, who knows?
Thanks in advance for the help!

On a side note, does the fact that my xbox is a v1.6b render the backup 256kb bank useless? Thanks again!
