no dashboard, but need to backup eeprom before reinstall

hi i just rescued my xbox from error 16 by modding it with a 2.6. obviously i have no dash whatsoever to boot into at the moment, and was wondering how i could grab my eeprom backup from the xbox hard drive? is the only way to do a hotswap of the hard drive to my pc? any help appreciated. thanks.

Create a bootable disc with a dashboard or other app that runs an FTP server. Typical procedure for doing a fresh mod, but should work for you here.
