you need flux to solder but you can put too much on , also it looks like you are leaving the soldering iron on the point way too long by the looks of the sheaving on the wires how they have melted, that's how you can lift pads aswell , get an old board and practice , or take jligg offer and let him do it

Glad you got it working,
Kinda brought back memories from my first install What a Disaster... Heh. However if you are going to do this To other ones
I would suggest Practicing next time on a dead pc board it looked like you went at it with an Oxy/Acetylene Cutting Torch... I don't want
to sound mean. But if you burn up a board thats like 150 bucks then the cr pro which is 29 plus your time and your soldering materials..
We all started somewhere and we were all noobs once that for sure is a fact but next time easy on the heat bro... and make sure to clean
the pads first with a fiberglass scratch pen a small touch of flux to each pad and thin Rosin core 62/36 #2 or kester soldering paste...

Other then that glad you salvaged it...

you got flux ALL over the cr4 and it really looks like crap. And lots of your wires are frayed out really bad which means you didn't twist them before you soldered them. you have a lot to learn because by the way your soldering and your cr4xl look, im surprised it even has power let alone a debug light... nobody is trying to be an ass, we just need you to realize what a horrible soldering job looks like and yours is about the worst I have ever seen...

I just noticed you have more problems than you think. first you have left over solder and junk laying around on the board that could cause a short but then I noticed A capacitor missing that you obviously broke off. might as well send this board in for repair before any more components go missing. as i recall someone already offer to fix it for you...

Another method of soldering is to use some smd solder paste, just dip the end of the wire in the paste hold it on the pad then touch it with your iron

This stuff http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Solder_paste

You can get it on eBay for like 3 bucks
solder paste is great for the right application.. he has a hard enough time soldering the normal way, I wouldn't encourage him to use solder paste.. will end up getting solder paste all over the place and end up bridging and shorting out components :)

should just stick to the conventional soldering methods and keep practicing

Technically these 2 points can be scratched off and be used as alternate points.
But by the looks of things I'd grab a bad board and get some practice in first, or send it off to a pro for possible repair/install.

Damn ...and I thought my soldering was messy. Practice makes perfect. I sugest buying a DIY soldering kit from radio shack or something to practice soldering. I destroyed my first trinity before I realized I needed real practice. Just food for thought man. You can do it but find a scrap mobo from just about anything and practice soldering to the same points over and over without doing damage. And remember flux is your friend
