Hi guys,

I received a DemoN chip for my Slim 360.

I've carefully read this 'read 1st' thread and I can't go any further than step 1: I plug the DemoN with a Micro USB adapter and nothing happens. WinXP doesn't recognize it and no device plugged shows up.

Of course I installed DemoN Toolbox 1.01 before doing this, but I said, nothing happens. DemoN switch is on PC. I already had my DemoN replaced once but the problem keeps going on, what could be wrong?

Many thanks in advance for helping me out :)

Try a straight through micro-USB cable instead of your adapter.
What do you mean by 'adapter' BL4K3Y?

I guess pics may help, here I go.

Also make sure the slide switch is set to PC and not XB.

Edit: never mind I can see it in your picture that its set to PC.

Try one of the rear USB ports, that front port might not be giving enough power.
That'd be strange because I've never had any issues using front ports compaired to rears ones.

Edit: same result :(

Yup, that's for sure. I've double checked that and moved the switch back and forth a couple of times.

I would recommend trying a different cable and also a different PC. If demon still doesn't get recognised then its most likely a faulty unit.

I've tried both WinXP SP3 & Win 7 Enterprise with identical results and 2 different units. Never in the past I had issues with USB devices in this PC, let's give a try with my laptop :confused:

Maybe this micro USB cable is defective. I'll do some additional tests at the office tomorrow. I'll keep you posted :)

Thanks a lot.

Did you ensure the box was checked to install the drivers in demon toolbox? Does your computer make a sound when you plug it in?

Yes, I reinstalled those twice. No sound when I plugged the device, that's weird. Maybe the cable is defective, I'll try another one tomorrow.

did you install the visual basic program on your pc, before installing demon toolbox?
Yes junivelli:

Microsoft_Visual_C++_2010_Redistributable_Package_x86.exe
Microsoft_Visual_C++_2010_SP1_Redistributable_Package_x86.exe

These are both already installed.

However, correct me if I'm wrong, DemoN should be detected as an unrecognized USB device as long as it is plugged in, right?

To make it work and flash it, both DemoN drivers / Toolbox & Visual C++ packages are requiered.

By the way, can anyone post a link of a checked and valid micro-USB to USB cable I can buy online?

Thank you all :smile:

If it helps, I use my wife's Kindle cable for testing mine :)

Ebay #280807036636 would do you fine, or a similar item.
Many thanks Martin.

I'll walk again this afternoon to the shop where I bought the cable. I'll take my laptop to make quick tests because I'm fearing I've been using the wrong cable from the very beginning.

I'll get back to all of you later on.

Cable changed and tested at the shop, now it's working!

If my issue can help others, here a piece of useful information: no matter what you have previously installed in your computer, if DemoN isn't recognized as an unknown device, either the chip is defective (unlikely but possible) or you're using a recharge-only cable.

Issue solved!
