it would seem from the pics that if the dvd dongle was to go in the third or fourth port (where the majority of xbox users put it), then it would indeed cover up the lcd screen. i would like your advice on where would be the best place to put it if i buy the control panel. i've read on xbox-scene about hard-wiring the dongle to the inside, but that seems to tedious.

lol you are gonna call me stupid, or weird but,

1.) it looks uneven,

2.) and i have other things in controller port 2, i wanted a permanent place for it, and i don't have a 4th controller anyways, so its almost like its going to waste.

Ok - where would you suggest putting the LCD??

Plug it into Port 1. It's the same difference! You'll still have 3 adjacent ports to use for controllers.

im in no way suggesting the lcd placement is a bad design dude. and if i put it into controller 1, then that means i gots to take it out and swap it with a controller whenever i want to play a game. like i said earlier controller 4 was a much easier and permanent place for it.

oh well, i could attempt at hard wiring it to the inside.

Why would you need to? The Xbox will pick up your controller in port 2 as easy as it would in port 1! Have you even tried this??

I have - it works. Believe me.

Absolutely! We do it all the time at my house. My controller is plugged into port 1, my son's in port 2. He wants to play a single player game he grabs his controller and away he goes.

wicked, thanks for that dude.

i always had in my head that

port 1 = player 1

port 2 = player 2

etc.

does using the controller in port 2 work with most apps and software?

Port 1 is used for most emulators.
Controllers on all other ports wont work with emulators.
Not entirely true - the ports are mapped as Port 1 - player 1 etc. So a 4 player game like Gauntlet gives you a character based on what port you connect to.

Worst case scenario is that you remove the dongle while using emulators!

You know the simple solution is just to get out the dremel and hadwire your lil dongle into the bezel. What you say you cant do this? Then you really shouldnt complain about the work the excelent people at T-X have done in creating a great product. Personaly I just use the Logitch wireless controller since the IR remote is kinda lame. Actualy all IR is lame. Bluetooth or other wireless is so much more effective, and no worries about line of sight. I am rather excited about the control panel bezel. I only have a 2.6pro at the moment, kinda waiting on the bezel to come out to order the whole thing as a kit. Not to mention the estimated price of these just rocks, I hope they are able to keep it at the estimated.
