I have an old Xenon motherboard that I revived with a reflow. But the DVD drive is missing.
Dash is 8955, so no Jtag possible.

Any suggestions to get this monster going again?

Thanks in advance ....

They can, but they can take an age to glitch!

In my opinion, scrap it and get yourself a Jasper or a Slim Trinity because Xenons aren't really worth bothering about these days - they are prone to RROD.

Yep .. The idea is to sell it off. Just fitted a replacement GPU to get it alive.

Do i try RGH or RGH2 ? ... (if RGH2 do I first update dash to latest and then try?)
Only have a Rev A Coolrunner left. Will it do the trick?

Thanks

I don't want to burst your bubble but Xenons are as bad as (if not worse) than Zephyr consoles, Zephyr units are just Xenons with a HDMI port lol.

Some people have had success so it's worth a shot I suppose but don't get your hopes up.

Thanks

Just a quick one. The 50ohm coax used - Is it RG58 coax (50ohm) which is 5mm diameter?

I guess I could resort to taking the CPU from my old Jtagged Xenon that cannot be revived (corroded GPU pads).
It has been laying on the shelf waiting to be useful somewhere ..... :)

Thanks again.

I'm not sure what they're using these days, but I bought a spool of 50ohm RG-174 when that's what they told us to use, seems to work fine.

The cable used and recommended is LMR-100A.

It's baffling how we have to keep repeating this ?

RG-174 is what Xconsoles and VGC used to stock as well, I'll make a note of 'LMR-100A' but I can't find anywhere where someone has actually posted saying that is the 'official' shielded cable to use for RGH installs. Not trying to argue with you, just pointing out that there are guides and posts from admins and mods stating to use RG-174 50ohm single-shield cable still, which is where I've gotten my info, and the RG-174 gives me identical results to people using LMR-100A.

That's probably a better idea.

Take a NAND dump from the JTAG, then one off the other console (always good to have backups!!!), transplant the CPU and then flash the JTAG NAND to the other board.

Bonus of this (aside from having a JTAG) is you can still boot Xell for the DVD Key. :)
