just finished installing an X3 chip in a version 1.6b xbox and all the colors come up correctly the way they should. however, no flash bios screen comes up. i am wondering if anyone might have some ideas as to why the screen won't come up.

thanks!

1. Make sure you're using the standard AV cables.
2. Set your switches to OFF ON OFF OFF OFF (Banks 5678 1MB). If this shows FlashBIOS on screen, then set the switches to ON ON OFF OFF OFF before you flash or you'll write over your only working copy of FlashBIOS.

Once you're flashed properly and can get into X3 Config Live, flash the backup ROM with FlashBIOS 3.0.3.

UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES SHOULD YOU FLASH BANKS 1234 or SET A PASSWORD IN X3 CONFIG LIVE!!

i tried all of the bank settings and still have no flash bios screen. the leds on the chip are blue and green for no flash protect. if i quick tap the power button i get the blue light on the X3 panel but the screen stays blank. then when i hold long press the power button the normal ms loading screen comes up which goes into error because i have put in a new hard drive. when i press both the eject and power buttons i get the purple and this is where i assume the flash bios screen should come up.

could the flash bios program be missing entirely? and if so, is there a way to fix it?

thanks for all your help, i need it!

For starters, put your old HDD back in the Xbox - you'll need it.

Set the switches to OFF ON OFF OFF OFF. Power on using the Eject button. The button should flash green, thne finally stop flashing. Press it again.

Keep doing this until you get FlashBIOS on screen. This may take a few attempts, so keep at it. Remember, you need to be using the standard AV cables too.

I owe a BIG THANKS to both of you as it now works and the screen came up with no problem. The few past ones i've done I didn't remember having to switch banks, and only pressing the eject button, as I was pressing both eject and power at the same time.

So Martin, THANKS for all of your help, and THANKS as well to you DJBOOBY for letting me in on the flash protect switch.

If I could ask one more question, what would I do if I accidentally flashed over the flash bios 3.0.3? Is there a way to still flash the chip?

THANKS!!!

The bottom line is that as long as you can access FlashBIOS (any version) or X3 Config Live, you can reflash your chip.

What are you getting on screen at the moment?
