Hi Guys,

Last week I did a RGH to my falcon box.
All went well, it always glitched on the first go.
But today while playing a game I got a freeze, the box didn't react to anything anymore. I had to power off the box.
After powering it on again nothing happened, just the green led in the power button.
So I opened the box to see if the TX coolrunner was even trying but it didn't.
The red led is on but there is no green led flashing, only for a little moment when I hit the power button.

I did the soldering under a microscope at my work, my job is to do micro soldering so I just can't believe that the soldering isn't okay. I will check this when I get back to work.
For the rest I followed darkfib3r's tutorial.
What troubles me the most is that the box worked perfectly before freezing.

The game I was playing was call of duty MW3, I used iso2god to extract and transfer it.

As I said, I will check the soldering at work.
Are there more possibilities that I should investigate?
Or any other tips to get the box working again.

I have a backup of all the important files may ineed them.

Hope you guys can get me in the right direction, thanks in advance already!

Sounds like something came loose in your soldering. I would just double and triple check each of the points going to and from the coolrunner (including the ground wire).

I had the same issue. I wrote this post earlier today which might help as it goes into several causes that can cause this issue. In my case I too thought my soldering was not this issue until I inspected the part of the QSB that is soldered to the motherboard near R4B24 under a jewlers magnifying glass and I found that at that particular point the solder was actually only resting on the pad, even though I used flux originally. I don't know if there is more lacquer left on that pad from manufacturing relative to its size than all the other points or something but in my case coating it in flux and reflowing it solved the issue. Hope this helps.

Don't rule out RROD either. Happened to me with exact same symtoms. Turned out to be 0022. Reflowed and bang, glitching as normal again.

Checked soldering today under a microscope.
Visually everything looked OK. Then measured every wire with a fluke and all the connections are OK.

I will program the coolrunner again this evening, maybe something went wrong during the freeze.

If this won't work I will set the box back to stock and see if it works then.

The thing is driving me crazy :D

Inspect the wires route. If a wire is pressed by enclosure screws that may happen. Make sure the wires are away from the screw holes

I flashed the retail nand back to the box and it gave me a nice rrod :mad2:

Code 0110 so something is wrong with the ram/gpu.

Guess I'll give it to the guys at work that use the reflow station.

Hope my box will recover after it.

Don't know if I'm lucky, I have to pay there salary every month :p

But in these situation it can be helpfull to have a company that is equipped with the right tools and workers.

I hope to that the box will be revived!

This thread can be closed if the mods want, this is not a RGH issue anymore.
Or they can leave it open till the beginning of next week so that I can tell you guys if the reflow was succesfull.

Anyways thanks for the tips and the helpfull forum.
Keep up the good work guys!

Guys reflowed the CPU, GPU, RAMS and Southbridge today.
Box is working like a charm again, it glitches again on the first go!

Topic can be closed, problem solved!

This should be noted by others who blame freezing on the CoolRunner. There are always other variables to consider.

The excuse of 'it didn't freeze before I installed the CoolRunner' is irrelevant, as you could simply say 'you didn't remove the motherboard and disturb everything before either'

Thanks for highlighting your problem / solution

Guess is was just bad luck for me that the box quitted after the RGH.
Or maybe there was a release of tension or build up of tension during taking apart the box and putting it back together.
We all know that the boxes are sensitive for the RROD........

This had nothing to do with the coolrunner, and luckily also not with my soldering

Hope this can help some people that run into the same problem.

Agree with the above comments by OP and UG.

I've had Xbox consoles RRoD just by removing the x-clamps. I even advise people now not to lift the board out by the CPU heatsink!!!
