Hi all,

First off I'd like to thank all who share their time helping us noobs learn something new. Hopefully, I'll be able to share some back with time and experience.

I'm trying to RGH a Falcon board with a Coolrunner (CR) and the Quick Solder Boards (QSB). I have the Team Xecuter (TX) Nand-x and am following the tutorial that FiB3r posted.

The process went well till the point where you boot into Xell and watch for the green light flash on the CR. I had no green light. After inspecting my soldering I thought the pll_bypass wire could be the culprit and attempted a better connection. In the process I somehow managed to cook that point with my 40w iron. I moved to the resistor at the alternate point and connected the wire. Luck would have it that once it was on I fumbled the board and proceeded to rip the wire off which took off the resistor  I used a 10k ohm resistor in its place but I'm stuck.

Before I messed with the soldering I tried to boot and nothing came up on the screen, the xbox green light steadily flashing, CR red on, CR green off. This hasn't changed throughout the soldering fiasco. One thing I notice, the CR red light will intermittently glow dimly when in the "prog" mode. I thought this setting killed power to the CR and assume I have feedback from something. Next note, I flashed the nand back to stock and tried to boot but received a 3rrod and nothing on screen. My goal is to get a working RGH box by Sat afternoon. Sorry for the length, want to give as much info as I can.

Starting questions,
  • What can cause the "no green flash on the CR"
  • Why would the CR red light glow when in prog mode
  • Is the 10k resistor going to work?
  • Why do I not get anything on the screen?
  • Most importantly, in which order do I tackle these problems?

yea, unfortunately I think it's somewhere with Dorothy in Kansas. When it pulled out I saw the wire off and thought it just came loose. Upon further inspection I noticed the pad gone. After a little surfing here I found a post where someone referred to the pad as a 10k ohm resistor.

From the alternate point tut we noticed the example burned out hole had its tracing destroyed. We assumed that the current must be traveling from that original point through the resistor because no mention was made towards having to repair the burned trace. That lead us to our decision of soldering one end of a surface resistor to the small solder point from where the SMC (surface mount component) was and to the green wire on the other end.

You might have to concede to the fact that the work required to repair this is beyond your skills. You basically need to remove everything from CPU_PLL_BYPASS, clean the point up and take new pics and hopefully someone here might be able to help. However I don't think it'll be for you to do.

Putting a time on when you want to get this done is not a good idea either. Why tomorrow afternoon?

Ah, seems as I missed the whole last part of that tut.... I'll do that after a nap. Any ideas on the other points?

Why tomorrow afternoon?
My wife and I invite 4 families over for the New Year holiday  Us boys bring our xboxes (should be 7 of us playing) and geek out for 3 days straight. No one leaves till Monday afternoon. It's great, girls chat and watch their girly shows, us guys beat each other up over video games, the kids play hard and swim, good times....

The thing I wanted to do was save my son's and my disks. Last year we had to re-buy 9 games due to these drives scratching them. I'd like to play off a HDD.

Off to bed, I'll post results in the morning, Thank you for your help so far guys!!

Ok, I repaired the points and trace at the stby_clk location and tested with my DIMM at the cleaned trace to the left of the point. Can I solder the ORG wire at the trace location?

Update. I went ahead and connected to the trace off the stby_clk. Couldnt see a reason why not (prob a bad assumption). I fixed the pll_bypass by adding a wire to the alternate location from the new resistor.

Replacing heat sinks now and will attempt boot.......

Update2 --- Wait for it..... It works!!! I have to say, soldering is key! I spent a lot of time correcting my mistakes and using the right tools and resurrected my box to the surprise of me, my buddies and prob a few here (just a pat on my own back ;-)

Now I'm stuck again----- I have no idea what to do now When booted with power button I get the MS dash and when I put in a stock game or a backed up game I get the 360 logo, that's it. When powered by eject xell loads and then repeatedly "looking for xenon.elf...." Point me in the right direction please. Thank you!

I have reached the end of the tut "You are now ready to start installing all sorts of homebrew win..." This is where I need a spin to the right direction. In what order are the next steps to get a dashboard. I see plenty of options are available and can easily find how to install if I was sure on the order of install. ie. I have freeStyle 2.0 and followed the install directions and extracted to usb. That contains a file called default.xex and xell is looking for xenon.xex. I'm thinking I missed a step or a whole process.

Going to write a new post on this issue. Been searching for awhile and have found nada...
