No Hdmi?

Hello all. I'm new here, and I couldn't find an answer anywhere else so I came here to ask.
I've recently purchased an Rgh phat xbox360. Upon turning it on the hdmi doesn't work. The TV says retrieving data and after a minute or two a bunch of bars (almost as if the picture was scrambled up) appears. After a few more minutes the screen will flash white and this will repeat. I've tried a different hdmi cable and the same happens. The vga output however, works so i'm thinking the hdmi port might be going bad?

If so, is there any way to fix it? Or what else could be causing this problem?

Note, currently I have no Hard Drive hooked up to it, as i'm saving up some more money to get one.

by the symptoms it will require either a gpu reflow or gpu replace/reball

Is that an easy task.? And how much money could I look to spend on a new gpu or reball?

Quite new to all of this.

if im correct in my assumption then your looking at around £30-50
and its something that cannot be done without a bga reflow setup costing around £750+
thwere atre many guys here that will be able to sort you out though

u can get hd quality thru component leads if your tv or amp/reciever supports it.

I'm not sure if it does, as it automatically sets the quality to 480p.

Hmm, would the stock cables be any different from some of the HD cords or will they both perform the same?

the hd component leads do set it to 480p wen u connect. u need to change the resolution settings on your xbox to 720p etc.
