LITEON 74850 No key - dead drive?

yeah hes just trying to put stock firmware up there with a random key so he can update it and the key should be put back onto the dvd drive.
how are u powering the dvd drive? and have u restarted ur computer since u plugged in the liteon drive?
Yes i am. I think i'm doing it all right but it isn't recognised anyway.
So, i turn on my xbox with the tray closed. Then i unplug the power cable from my dvd drive and open it manualy till the end... then i plug the power cable in again and it is suposed to be recognised, right? I'm not quite sure if i'm doing this right because i can be making some mistake due to any problem with my english reading...
also i read the guy who suggested this method and a few others say they updated from usb as opposed to over live so id suggest updating via usb as ive heard of a few trying the live method and it not working
I'd go online and grab a CK3 lite or pro kit to power the dvd drive. and ull need a probe 3 in order to pull the key off the liteon after u update the firmware.
try sliding the tray out all the way and putting it back in halfway with the dvd power cable unplugged then plug it back in and power up the xbox.

Ok, the drive is recognised now.
But when i go to open dbkey, it doesn't show me nothing! How do i can get a key? I guess any key should do to flash to stock firmware..
WAIT - somehow with dosflasher i managed to instal the stock firmware, i guess!!! My xbox don't play burned games but it plays some dvd with fifa 12 demo that i've got here!! this means the drive is ok, right?? with stock firmware?? I have dash board 2.0.12625.0
RIGHT NOW, jungleflasher don't recognise my dvd drive's key (it doesn't show any drive). If i update my dashboard i'm suposed to get the key right back, is that it?
So, in conclusion, now i should update my dashboard? Or, as i got the stock firmware on, i can retrieve the key some how to finally save it ?

do u have all the firmwares downloaded? Click Open Source Firmware and select the stock firmware under LiteOn_Pre_13141 then select Open Target Firmware and select the same file.

What should i do?
I've seen it says "firware is: stock"
It says also "drive key @ n/a 77777777777(7)" (a lot of sevens!)
What sould i do now? Can i get and save the key already?
you will be able to get the key whenever u preform the dash update since it will update the firmware on the dvd drive to 0251. but you will need a probe 3 in order to get the key after it is updated.

So, either way, i will always need a probe 3 or whatever it is in order to get the key? :S I though that when i updated my dashboard i will be able to get and save the key so i can update do lt+1.91
well since u dont have the original key you will need the probe 3 to get the key. but u will be able to atleast play original games while u wait for the probe to come in.
you need the probe 3 for liteon drives. if u woulda had a benq, hitachi or samsung then u wouldn't have to worry about it.

Ok so now i'm gonna update via usb until i have the newest dashboard version, is that it?

I would always say go with the newest TX products. Technology is going to keep changing so why try and update with old hardware? They make it so easy for you and it saves a lot of time and hassle. Usbpro and probe 3. No brainer!
To be honest i've never heard of probe3 until today... i know it's made to extract the key but i don't even know how...
edit - i tried to do the update on the dashboard and i got this message:
"can't proccess the update. If the problem persists, go to www.xbox bla bla.

About that dashboard update error, how do i fix that?
Jesus it's error after error after error
there was nothing for certain that updating would work to get your key back....in your very first post you stated you pressed liteon erase before getting your key...which means key gone.... someone suggested updating hoping it would reflash your key back...obviously it didn't . you are gonna have to wait for the reset glitch hack or buy a new xbox 360.. thats why you will keep getting errors , because the original key is missing !!!!!!
I may not be clear but i haven't done the update since the error appears before the update conclusion...
That glitch hack is that probe 3?
