I'm a noob, so please excuse me.

I got my xecuter 2.6CE and went to install using the xapter in my v1.0 xbox. I used this tutorial: http://www.teamxecuter.com/xapter/?CMSSESSID=d4529be7f70bfede9993699b27650af2

I followed everything, except for making the xapter flush with the motherboard. I'm not good with soldering, so I'm nervous to try and get the solder out of the LPC, but I was told that it should work fine with the solder there. I followed those instructions and when I go to power up the xbox, there aren't any LEDs on the chip. I have the chip enabled and set to bank 1, with the LEDs set to on.

Help please!

While I've never used (heck, even handled) and Xapter I can tell you right now that if you're not getting any LEDs on the chip then you aren't hitting all the contact points of the LPC. Hopefully someone else can shed a little light on the solder/no solder in the LPC holes issue.

Thanks, I tried wiggling the xapter around to get it to seat properly, but no dice. Hmm, this is starting to get annoying.:(

make sure that the chip is aligned properly on the xapter and you're using the correct D0 point

with the solder in the holes you may have to use a little force to get it in there, but not too much

another method you can use is to do a wire install, which in your case would be very easy to do since the solder is already in the holes, its a matter of heating up the solder and putting the appropriate wire in

the D0 may be alittle tricky but not if you practice soldering on some old hardware first

Did you clean the LPC area with a stiff eraser or a q-tip with a little bit of nail polish remover on it?

You're lucky. I just received my xecuter2.6ce in the mail and it didn't even come with the external switch. I've been calling and emailing SYSTEM MOD TECHNOLOGIES for three days and they haven't even responded once. Once they have your money, they don't give a sh*t.

SMT used to be one of the top vendors IIRC. Unfortunately they seem to have hit problems recently. Not going to discuss it here, taking it to the other thread you fired up. Leave this thread on topic for the solderless issue.

Do you know where I can find a high-resolution picture of the correct D0 point? I can't determine whether or not I'm using the right one with the pictures I've found.

Does the D0/Lan/HDD cable have to be soldered in or can I just leave it out?
D0 must be soldered if you are not using an xapter

if you do have the xapter then the copper wire goes into the D0 point on top of the board

LAN and HDD lights are optional
