No output on v1.6b Box

Did anyone ever figure out the no display problem with v1.6b boxes?

Symptom: Get two blue light on X3 chip, front panel lights up, eject button starts green then switch to orange after a couple seconds. No display or sound.

I've spent several hours reading a lot of threads with that problem but no one ever gave an answer as to what the problem might be, or how to fix it. I've checked and recheck the solder umpteen +1 times, and tried another chip which is flashed and worked properly. :?: :?: :?:

Make sure you use the Std AV lead (red/white/yellow cables) and not the advanced AV pack.

I am using a standard cable. I can boot to the msdash board with the chip disabled (red led on front) but nothing when the chip is enabled. :?: :?: :?:

What was the result - does this work ok in this Xbox? If so, what chip is it and what version of FlashBIOS is on it?

The other chip is an X3 also flashed with bios 1957. I works fine in a v1.6. When I put it in the v1.6b I get no output just like the new X3 chip. :?:

Do you see the flashBIOS at all though?

There was something on the news page where if pins 9 and 11 on the LPC were shorting, you'd get FlashBIOS but no video from the actual X3 BIOS.

Also, X3 1959 is the BIOS you should be using for 1.6b.

I think I have quite the same trouble but on a v1.6 box.
I can access the flashbios by holding both power and open buttons but after when I just press start button, the X3 start in blue, I can hear sounds but I have no display on screen.
I checked all the cables to see if there was one unplugged but all are well plugged.

Do you think it could be a solder trouble or something else ?

It could be a solder issue, yes. If you saw the FlashBIOS screen ok then I'd check as I mentioned before.

oops - yes, pins 13 and 14 are the ones to check!!

Have you toyed with any video settings at all?

first off, let me say this

GO TO THE 1.6B FORUM

the only way to make the x3 work on a 1.6b is to flash it before it gets into the box, to 3.0.3, while your flashing it in another box, you may as well put the x3 bios 1959 build on as well

you wont get video, and if you do, its just going to lock up

Thanks for those replies but my xbox is a v1.6 not v1.6b.

I do not change any video settings. I think it is still in PAL I.

But now I can't do anything to make it works because I can't see anything.
I spend my afternoon to search if someone have the same trouble and could have solve it but I can't. Maybe, it can't work but I don't know why.
The only thing I see is to remove the X3 and install another chip.

I'm quite disappointed because the X3 seemed so powerful. :!:

Anyway, I will try to unsolder the X3 and to solder it again to see if something change or not.

I will post another reply tomorrow if it works.

PROBLEM SOLVED: No output on v1.6b Box

I finally got my v1.6b working. Had to take the chip to a friend and use his v1.6 box to flash it. I installed v1959 BIOS, put it back in the v1.6b and it works great. I guess this is the only way you can get it to work until the retailers all start using flash v3.0.3.

Now I have to figure out how to update the backup flash to v3.0.3. I saw that somewhere in here so I'll start digging around. :lol: :lol:

i just tried to update my firmware on my Benq with jungle flasher LT v1.1

then when i put in a game it saids play as DVD

I backup that game awhile ago...can somebody tell me whats wrong? or do i need to flash it again or do something? :roll:
