I have an xbox that someone was trying to mod by using and x3. He soldering the pin header in and doesn’t look to bad but when you kick it on there is no picture. Everything runs just like it should. When you pull the vido cable out the light even flashes green and yellow for the error but still no picture. What could this be; bad solder? Thanks for the Help!

first off are you using the original a/v cables? and also you shouldnt get a frag (green/amber flashing) when u disconnect the cable if the chip was installed and if your not running with it enabled.....did he flash the chip...did he install the power/eject pcb....try booting to flashbios do you get a picture then....hold power & eject together to do that....and again use the stock a/v cables

I am getting the same problem here. I got a mate to solder everthing for me cos i really do suck at it. When i first turned the xbox on, i got the crombwell bios and every thing was sweet. Although i couldn't move up or down in the Menu. a quick unplug and plug in of the controller soon solved that!

I then chose the Flash Via HTTP option and used the same bios as a freind. The XBOX powered off as it should. When i then powered up i just get a completly BLACK screen.

I can long press the button and the BOX comes on with the chip disabled and i can happily play games. I can get into the back-up BIOS aswell. Just not the xbox with the MOD on!

Whats gping on?

andrewlane - resolder your pins 13 and 14 on the lpc.

I desoldered the WHOLE LPC and resoldered it all... and used a multimeter to bleep test the lot.....

I read somewhere about the version of crombwell if it aint 3.0.3 then it might not work..

Is that only for the 1.6b boards?

If every thing else works fine, (like i can disable the chip and it works) that definatly suggests that the D0 point is correct and the HDD and LAN leds flash happily so they must be ok... Why do i always have problems... im upgrading from the x 2.3b lite plus chip!!!

Grrrr

Any comments welcome. Thanks

Are you using the correct version of the BIOS? 1.6 for 1.6 or the other for any other?

I accidently did this once. I just booted to the backup cromwell and loaded the correct version.

THANK YOU TEAM X FOR ALL OF THE IDIOT PROOFING ON YOUR NEW CHIPS!!!!

If your getting the normal load up sound then check the AV cables.. do you get graphics when you turn the xbox on with the chip disabled? or when u go into the 256k back-up?

If so then ure problem may be completly different to mine as i aint getting ANYTHING!! I can boot into original MS dash and 256k back-up, but not the evox.... might be something to do with my hard drive...

This stuff really is baffling isnt it?

Guys.. PROPBLEM TEMPORARILY solved...

The story is quite the stangest thing ive every seen.... but i understand now.

Put the chip is and powered up, got the FlashBIOS 3.0.0 came up... jolly good, then selected a Network flash. Flashed the chip... booted up.. NOTHING! Just a black screen.

I then done loads of other things to try to solve the problem.. 3 days later i was really getting pissed!!!

FInally visted a friends last night who has the same chip, tryed his chip in my box, NOTHING, tried my chip in his box . (it worked?)

So we then tried several BIOS'. Still nothing, then tried putting FlashBIOS 3.0.3 on the chip... That worked... Now this was really getting strange... My friend being the clever guy he is then created a BIOS which contained 4X 256kb which would make up the 1m... we then flashed it the chip... HURRAY!!! It worked!

So why..... well PINS 13 and 14 aren't used with a X2 bios but are USED on the X3 bios...

I thinked they are fried cos the solder joints are flawless!!

Any solutions.... and i hope this might help some other people experiencing the same problem!

Lite-On 9xxx drive not powering up!

Hey fellas I wanted to know if anyone could help me out with my new Lite-On drive not powering up.
I have a new lite on drive that I was trying to flash that required the trace cuts. A few days ago I connected the drive to the ck3 pro and ck3 probe and It powered up just fine. This was before I found out that I had to make the trace cuts... so the flashing was put on hold for a few days.

Today I made the trace cuts on the drive board and connected the power cable from the ck3 pro to the board. As soon as I plug the cable in the drive, all the leds from the ck3 pro and the probe turn off. Drive no power as well.

Does anyone have any idea what I might of done to make this happen? Any help is greatly appreciated! Thanks

Re: Lite-On 9xxx drive not powering up!

I forgot to mention that when I first connected the drive to the ck3 pro and I powered it up. I tried to probe some spots I think it was R707, but I believe that's for older drives. I think I might of touched something on the board with the probe and shorted something out. This is a brand new 360, Can anyone help me salvage this drive? I have my multi meter ready, does anyone know where I would start look for something blown? Thanks

Re: Lite-On 9xxx drive not powering up!

after you make cuts, there will be no power

you must repair cuts to get the drive to power again

Hang on!
firstly which drive do you have?
second, you mention the Probe (this is only for 7 series drives and does not require trace cuts)

i lttle more info would be helpful
