Disconnected the Power/Eject No Solder Adapter

When I disconnected this and now I have power. There are two positions for the red lead. From the tutorial it looked like they used the top. which is what i had used.

When i disconnected it and pluged it in normally it worked fine. So what does this adapter do? is it really needed.

I'm having a similar problem. I took out pin 15 (where the 3.3V goes to) and the power came on but the chip won't work without the 3.3V source. I still have pin 9 when I need to put the 3.3V source back. If you come across anything, please let me know. I have a post here that I waiting to hear from.

Adaptor

The front panel switches connect to an adaptor. This adaptor had a black wire pack that connects to the MB the yellow lead pack connects to the adaptor and then there is two other connections for the red wire that connects to the chip. I have tried both positons and the machine refuses to show life. If i remove this adaptor from the circuit the xbox will power up.

Ok, the power/eject adapter. Remove the sticky tape and inspect it for any solder bridges.

Glad you found the fault. You should contact the reseller you purchased from and see if they will replace the part.

fixed it up instead. So diagnostic correct. There was a solder bridge on the back of the board under the sticky adhesive. I ran a dental pick between the solder pads and got the insulation up to about 2 mega ohms. Good enough for me. Tested it and now i get power. Cheers for the help. Now to figure the rest out.

I checked mine also, but it turned out fine. Now I'm really stuck. My XBOX won't turn on at all with the chip connected fully to the pin-header. It turns on when the chip is not supplied with a 3.3V connection, but then the chip won't work. Has anybody had this problem before? I've been searching for a similar post but can't find any.
