No power with chip in, powers on without?

So I've been messing with installing the X3 on my 1.6 for a few days and had been worried that I either fried my motherboard or needed to replace the transistor that this forum links to on llamma because absolutely NOTHING happens when I hit the power or eject buttons.

I figured, for the hell of it, that I'd see what happens when I disconnect everything having to do with the chip aside from the things requiring soldering and voila the Xbox turns on and works fine. So I'm extremely relieved that I didn't damage my Xbox but now what do I do to fix the mod install? What part of the install should I inspect if absolutely nothing happens when I hit the power/eject buttons? I did everything as displayed in the directions so I'm quite confused. Any help would be extremely appreciated.

I got same problem.
My 1.6 xbox does not power on since i installed my X3. But it was working during the X3configLive flashbios, the X3CL worked fine. The mistake came when i stopped the xbox to plug a new hdd. When HDD was plugged, it was impossible to power on my xbox.
But i must say something, i've got touch the "potentiometer" on the X3 chip. But i touched it before the HDD replacement. What is the fonction of this adjustable resistor ?

PS: excuse for my poor englsh language, i'm a french frogg.

I've plugged the adapter in every place that it's supposed to be, but it just doesn't work... Only thing I'm not sure about is that when I plug it into the X3, it seems to not go in all the way no matter how much I push... On other installs, has it gone all the way in at the X3? Either way it seems that the connection is being made.

Oops, nevermind... the part I was actually referring to that won't seem to plug "all of the way" in is the external switch into the X3.

I reconnected everything having to do with the adapter, and still nothing. I did disconnect the adapter and hit the power and it boots up and powers down twice and then stays on with the X3 switch glowing red. So it looks like even if I do get this fixed I'll still have some other things to do... but first things' first... Is there any hope of getting this adapter to work or does it just sound like I have a defective adapter?

Check your soldering points on the lpc because this happened to me and it was bad soldering. No matter how good you think it is it my not be, mine looked great, but i desoldered it and resoldered it twice and it worked after that

Sending a modded xbox 360 w/ E74 back to microsoft

i have a modded xbox 360 with an e74 error. if i send it back to MS for repairs and the warranty sticker is still intact, will MS notice anything fishy?

any personal experiences?
