No power with the 5v

I have a 2.6ce in a 1.6...

If I plug the 5v in then the box is dead, no power, nothing

If I unplug the 5v then the box works fine stock but the chip is dead (understandable)

If I leave the 5v plugged in but take out the hard drive and the DVD drive then box will run through turning on and off three times. While doing this the blue LED light on the chip and the green light on the switch are going on and off too

I really appreciate any one reading or helping with this

How did you do the LPC rebuild? Did you remove pin 6 from the pin header? Are you sure you have the right 5v point?

[font=verdana, arial, helvetica]thanks for the reply

I took the 6 pin out
The 5v seems to be fine

The first time i did the LPC rebuild with the PCB, I took that out and wired it and thats how i got it working with the Hard drive

It seems to be a solder problem, I have been going over it but cant seem to find any thing, is there a good place to start when looking for issues with the DVD drive?

thanks

To be honest, I have never heard of this problem before, so I'm not really sure where to start. What happens with the chip off and the HDD and DVD drive plugged in?

Make sure noting is shorting on the Alt 5V source
Also make sure the chip os not shorting out with the bottom of the DVD drive
