I have a 6b and resently flashed my backup with 3.3 since the 3.0 doesnt work with my box. I also flashed both banks 1234 and 5678 with 3294 with no problems. Here is my question.

I bought my X-Box in a package from Costco and it came with 2 controlers. Only the one that came inside the X-Box box will work for 3.3 not the other M$ controler. They are exactly the same as far as I can tell. Only a slightly different code on the back. What exactly is the difference ? The Bios starts all up with no errors or problems but the other controler just wont move the selection. Weird.......

Feel free to get techy... I need to know lol

Thanks

For some reason, some non-MS Controllers won't work with FlashBIOS...

No real techy reason other than the BIOS itself doesn't cover 100% of all available Xbox hardware (3rd party or otherwise), where as the retail BIOS has to since the manufacturers build their kit to its specification.

Thanks for the reply.

That is understandable however it doesnt explain why another identical M$ controler doesnt work. Only the exact one that came with that particular X-Box like it is married somehow....

Just weird if you ask me......

Nah, not just that one. You'll find plenty of them work on your flashbios screen if you tested them, but it's not really worth it. I use the same controller on just about every xbox i flash.

Actually, it does - the 'non-FlashBIOS working' MS Controller will probably have the same problem on every version Xbox when booting to FlashBIOS. It may be as simple as a tiny change in the firmware revision on the controller, an IC may be different on the PCB, in fact anything to vary it from when FlashBIOS was written.

This is why we recommend to people that if the MS Controller doesn't work, to use the DVD Movie Playback Kit (as this doesn't seem to change revision).
