I installed a X3 and everything is fine but when ever i enable the chip (hold power button for bout one sec.) the X on the outside display does not turn red. It's blue when the chip is on like it should be but it wont turn red whenever the chip is disabled. Hmmmmm.....

does everything work correctly other than the external panel not turning red....?
if this is the case, just check the display's wires if it really bothers you that much....

Ya everything else is fine. I just cant get that dang red X to work. Would it have something to do with some of the pin headers being too small?
I have something similar... except on mine (just modded it this evening - version 1.6 motherboard) there is no blue X. It boots fine to the orig BIOS, and boots fine to the Xecuter BIOS (I haven't got as far as flashing it yet).... the red X works, but there's no blue X when I'm in the FlashBIOS screen.
I've been searching the forums looking for some clue to what's wrong, but can't find anything yet.
Edit... fixed mine by reseating the connectors on the bottom of the bit with the (now) wonderfully colorful X3 thingy
That seemed to be all of the problem and solution for me... dunno if my minor success story will help any here.

A while ago a buddy gave me his busted 360 with nothing but a soundless black screen and i fixed it via the x clamps mod.
Now i have nothing coming out of the audio/vid jack (i know its not the cables cause they work on my other 360). no black screen, no nothing.
You think its worth taking apart and attempting to fix again or should i just huck it and look for another on craigslist.
I really like this box cause its a sammy and i already flashed it to lt+.
any tips

yeah it should help put a 12v fan mod on it as well. i'm also using a system like this. followed the directions from here ( http://www.llamma.com/xbox360/mods/360-12V-fan-Mod.htm ) if you need help with the 12v mod

funny thing is mine isnt red ringed, just no a/v. boots fine and fans run.
Im actually looking into putting the guts into a pc case in hopes it might help it run a bit cooler.
