No resistance in LFRAME - help

After my previous post re the xbox powering up immediately and going straight to the M$ dash see here " http://www.teamxecuter.com/index.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=25278

I thought I'd go back and check my soldering for the 10th time. All looks just like the tutorial pictures and the soldering guides.

Then I get my hands on a multimeter - yay!
Every point from D0 & LAD0 to LAD3 and pins 1 - 15 (pins 4, 6 & 16 have been removed) register some resistance on the multimetre, except pin 3 - the LFRAME.
When I just measure the LFRAME without the chip on, I get nothing no movement on the Multimetre. Everyother pin / point has a reading.

I did a search on LFRAME and got a number of hits, inc this one http://www.xbox-scene.com/articles/lpc-diag.php basically states I should be getting something off the LFRAME - but I'm not

The soldering looks as good (if not better) than everyother pin.

What am I missing?? I'm going nuts here...

TIA

I've just read your original post.

Are you saying that even without pressing the power button, the Xbox switches itself on???

If this is the case, then I'd carefully check the power/eject PCB module for two things:

1. A short on one of the soldered pins.
2. That you have the red cable plugged into the right socket.

To troubleshoot, remove the red cable, boot the Xbox.

If it still does it, plug the power/eject yellow cable directly into the Xbox motherboard.

Yep - absolutely correct - if the red wire (part 4) is plugged into both the X3 and the reset / eject adapter, and I plug the power cord into the xbox, it boots immediately.

With the red wire attached I cannot turn the xbox off using the power button and the eject button won't eject the DVD drive.

If I press both the power and eject button (within a second of plugging the power cord in) I can boot to the X3 Bios screen, but per the first post I can't really do anything - last night I tried connecting via http, but the PC and xbox would talk to each other (couldn't/wouldn't connect)

Remove the red wire and I have to press the power button to turn the xbox on, but won't boot to the X3 nor can I get to the bios.

I've checked the power/eject PCB module and :

1) There was a thin line of solder between 2 of the larger solder points on the back that didn't look like it should have been there so I removed it (it looked way to thin and whispy be there on purpose)
There doesn't appear to be any further problems with the power/eject PCB module, but I don't really know what I'm supposed to be looking for, nothing is obviously out of place.
Previous post on this dud power/eject PCB module subject haven't had photos nor said exactly where the manufacturing error was.

2) Don't know how I could be plugging in the red wire into the wrong spot, looks like the points in the manual?

I emailed the supplier re this problem 3-4 days ago and have had no response. Not impressed with the lack of service provided by http://www.xecuter.com.au/ in Australia.

Any other suggestions?

"Remove the red wire and I have to press the power button to turn the xbox on, but won't boot to the X3 nor can I get to the bios."

Well this is a start at least!

If you've successfully soldered the LPC and D0 then the X3 chip should do *something*. Do you get both blue LEDs on the chip? Does the external switch light up?

Any information pertaining to this would be useful.

The chip lights up blue, didn't know there were 2 lights, but will have check the chip to make sure the both are lit.

The lights on the external switch (part 2) all work.

I'm at a bit of a loss as to what else to say?

Surely if I can get to the X3 bios the LPC & D0 are good, or is that a red herring and I'm kidding myself about the quality of the soldering?

Hi, saw Xecuter Australia mentioned and I have checked that all our support enquiries have been replied to so I have no idea why you aren't impressed with our level of service. We know nothing about your problem.

Anyway, check you have both LEDs lit on the X3 and let us know how you go.

Just had a chance to check the chip - both blue LEDs light up.

Xecuter Oz - I'll resend the email I sent last week.

So what are we looking like

Besides the folks who were already flagged, with this new firmware out what are we looking like with ban occurrences since the LT FW has been available

None to those few who said they got banned, but are probably just yanking our chains.
