GENERAL No signal when in XB / Updating to use Live / Point X7

Hello guys,

I was thinking of opening 3 different threads but I feel as my questions aren't very complicated I chose to put them all together.

Here are the facts: I have a Trinity board with both DemoN and CR Rev. C installed. Now both modes boot absolutely fine, no trouble on that. RGH mode has 15574 version and stock runs on 14719.

My 1st question is, and this caused me lots of trouble to get the whole thing working: there's no way I can communicate with DemoN if the switch is on XB mode. If I move it to PC, I can do it with my laptop (not with my desktop PC, this is no big deal all in all) and program the whole thing. What part of the installation is defective is communication is fine one way but not otherwise?

I can't pretend to dissamble the motherboard to move the switch to PC any time I want to make updates, it's crazy. Updates must be done using the external USB, no doubt about it, but where do you think the problem is?

Secondly, but not less important: I want to jump to Xbox Live with this box. How should I update my retail NAND? 1) Producing a retail one with J-Runner & my CPU Key and flashing it with that very same tool or 2) Logging online and letting M$ update my NAND?

I understand using the 2nd choice would increase the LDV value so I'd be forced to produce a new RGH image and flash in onto DemoN as well, so it seems to me option 1) is the correct one, right?

And lastly, why point X7 in DemoN for Slims shows up in this installation guide but it's not present in the diagrams neither in this forum nor ir J-Runner app? Is X7 point mandatory or not? I did install it, for the record.

Many thanks.

Leave the Demon in XB then have a look at the board on the rear of the xbox (the one that came with the demon) It has a mini usb connection on it, plug a usb lead in to that then in to you pc and assuming you have the drives setup it will show in JRP as DemoN. You do not have to dismantle your xbox to update.

As for the live update I would recommend updating from usb, safer I suppose.

It doesn't show up at all using that USB plug but it does show up if I plug it directly to the DemoN chip itself. Why? Something has to be wrong, but I can't make out what.

As long as this updating issue isn't solved, flashing any of the NAND's is a pain in the ass :(

Post some images of the install.

The X7 point is remote power on/off if I recall and is an optional wire.

Have you tested continuity between the pins on the external module and the DemoN itself?

I have a slim trinny as do many on here, trust me when I say "updating is not a issue". There must be something wrong with the install. Pictures would help

First you should never have the Demon switch to PC when installed because you can cause damage to the Demon.
If the Demon is not detected using the external USB port then probably the ribbon cable is not connected properly or there's something wrong with the drivers on the computer.
The X7 point i believe will be usefull in the future for the Demon Add-ons like phone apps to turn the Xbox on remotely.

I'll post them tomorrow, sure.

I haven't tested that continuity, but I thought it'd be OK as the blue led lights fine.

That's where I want to get, hence this thread.

I'll post some pics tomorrow.

When all the installation was done and I moved the switch to PC, there was no power cable plugged at the motherboard.

Drivers are fine if DemoN is "visible" when in PC selection. I'll check continuity as BL4K3Y suggesed and I'll get back to you with some pictures.

Just to clarify, did you solder the RB wire in place?

This is required along with GND, 5V STBY and the quick solder points to read/write to the console's NAND (you shouldn't have to write anything to the console's NAND at all).

Well, now I can't communicate with the DemoN using the external USB and the back of the Xbox. It's weird because depending on the sequence of plugging the cable it works or it's recognized as a defective device by WinXP. It may be a problem of that side of the wide ribbon, no big deal right now. Let's say it's somehow solved.

However I wanted to ask you again about how to properly update my retail dash from 14719 to 15574 in order to log on Xbox Live. I've tried it this way: opened up a retail, valid and checked stock NAND dump version 14719. I chose Trinity board on J-Runner, selected dash 15574, created an image and flashed it onto DemoN (Xbox360 NAND selected all the way, of course).

Now the console won't boot on stock mode but it will in RGH mode. Red dot shows up after 15-20 seconds. I've re-read this Martin C's thread and I don't really understand if the problem is the LDV value as this update I'm doing is not strictly an 'official update'. How should I update to 15574 then? Can any one help me on this last issue?

Many thanks.

So you are now able to successfully write to your console's NAND?

If so, flash the original NAND dump back to your console and update using XBL or a USB stick and then write a glitch image to the DemoN.

I always make a point of dumping the 15574 NAND once I update consoles.

This assumes you have your console's CPU key.

Sort of, yes. Don't really know how, but I can't communicate both with onboard and DemoN NAND's.

I'll take your advice and make those tests right now BL4K3Y and yes, I do have CPU Key and all data of this 360, as it was previously RGH'd.

I updated the stock NAND to 15574 with a USB stick flawlessly and I made another backup dumping afterwards.

ISSUES SOLVED!
