if you cut the trace,and probe these two points then you should get no readin.

I have a feeling he should add a pic of his pcb to show us the trace he is trying to de-solder and a pic of the multimeter he is using as i don't think he has any idea what he is actually trying to achieve.

So in short, you haven't got a clue how to use a multimeter and yet you're messing about with electronics. Did you click on my link ? There are TONS of pages on help across the web and still you choose to be lazy.

fookin did it lads....
and martin it was nothing to do with the trace cuts...
the drive was stuck between spi status,
intro as phat then intro as slim,ctrl-shift-f11
then the spi status showed,clicked it and probed and bam its done
