Ok guys I got 2 problems here. Let me give you some background - my Xbox was kitted out with the (utterly contemptable) Aladdin mod chip. That's right! Bet you didn't even know anyone uses them? Well I do! Or, did, as the case is I attempted to flash with the wrong BIOS using FlashBios I tried to put an X2 bios on it... I was using Slayers auto installer and it seemed like a good idea...?

Anyway once it seemed the thing was nuked I desoldered it out of there and installed a nice shiny new X3 on my brand new 1.6b box (w/ LPC rebuild kit).

After one or two false starts (Forgot alt. 5v, and one of the points on the LPC rebuild. Whoops!), the chip appears to be just fine IE I'm getting lights on the bottom of the chip and on the external switch and the power button works the way it should etc... I could swear blind I double checked each and every last contact point...

The problem is that I dont get any video when I boot with the chip enabled! No sound, no video, nothing. In fact, there is actually no video signal at all! If I try booting with the mod chip disabled I get the familiar bios screen and video and sound and all that but then the dash crashes out almost immediately (I see one frame of the front screen animation) then my box starts fragging on a #21...

The problem with the ms dash (retail bios) started when I flashed the wrong bios to the aladdin chip.

Please flood me with as many ideas as possible guys I really need this! Thank you for your time.

The MS dash problem sounds strange to be, but the no video problem sounds like a BIOS issue. I had a similar problem when I used the 1.6 X3 BIOS on a pre-1.6 box. I guess I was just in a routine from modding so many 1.6 boxes. In any case, it was easy to fix. I downloaded the correct BIOS, booted the box into the backup BIOS (power + eject buttons) and re-flashed the chip. I can't think of what else could be the problem.
