My friends 360 (non modded) retail will turn on, you get the green lights on the console, then one light for the controller sync. BUT their is no sound or video? What would be the fix 4 this?

you could try clearing cache by turning it on while holding sync on the front of console i believe.most likley needs a reflow/reball though.seen plenty over the years that green light but no video.reflow or reball almost every time.have also seen the hdmi portion of the video stop working while the rca will work fine, check for this too, might also play with the monitor discovery settings if you can ever get video back.

The manufacturer date is 3-31-06 and it only has the AV connector so I can't test using HDMI :(.

Once I can get 'er back together enuf to boot while holding the sync button I'll report back.

could possibly be incorrect video settings on the xbox itself

To reset the display settings of the Xbox 360 console to the default settings, follow these steps:
  1. Remove any discs from the disc tray.
  2. Turn the console off.
  3. Turn the console on. Note If you are using an Xbox 360 Wireless Controller, turn the console on by using the Xbox Guide button on the controller. Make sure that you use the player 1 controller when you do this. The player 1 controller will have the upper-left quadrant light illuminated.
  4. As the console starts, press and hold the Y button, and then pull the right trigger at the same time.
  5. The Xbox Dashboard resets the display settings to the default settings, and then automatically restarts the console.

For a temporary fix you could re-paste ect the cpu and gpu this will only temporarily fix it until you get a re-ball or even better a new console...

Don't listen to frayed he's a xenon hater...just get yourself a TX Extreme Edition III Repair Kit...it will solve your video/audio issue...just fixed my friend's Falcon this morning...had the exact same problem...now both analog and digital outputs are working...funny thing is I've actually come across more Zephyrs and Falcons w/ that problem than Xenons.

The repair kit just temporarily masks the problem. It is not a "fix". The problem will come back.

That's not true...it all depends on the extent of the damage that's been done and what error it is.
I have a Falcon that I use everyday that's had a TX Repair Kit III installed and it hasn't failed me once even after 3 years of heavy use.
Now if you've got an E74 than you're S.O.L and the repair kit might only give your box an extra couple days/weeks of life if you're lucky.

Most of us are since they're worth nothing and are prone to fail sooner or later (most likely sooner).

And the rrod kit does not help, no x-clamp replacement does repair a broken solder joint. You may think so, I did once also but I know better now.

Everybody knows xenons are crap and have the highest failure rate...the guy was looking for a fix not someone telling him to throw his console in the garbage...it would be like me going to the mechanic and him telling me..."you're car is a piece of sh*t, why don't you drive it in the pond and buy a new one!" This is suppose to be a help/support forum...remember?

Well if they told you that the car wasn't worth the repair would you still pay them to to fix it?

We know it's supposed to be a support Forum but I can't remember when X announced that the was going to manufacture failing xenon, but if you can point us towards where it's stated that failing xenons are a product of Xecuter then we will be happy to help.

^^^^

This is the point I was trying to make. Lead free solder melts at 217c. The overheating process of the Xclamp fix will shut the console down way before it gets that hot. People also have a tendency to over tighten the screws which causes the board to warp and make the problem worse.
