No video & Sound - What causes this?

Seems like the no video/sound problem is common across a number of forums.

Is a bad EEPROM the only cause of this?

Does a bad D0 trace cause this? Bridged LPC traces?

Just trying to better understand the root cause since so many people seem to be plagued by this.

It could be a result of a sloppy install as well. It really depends on what happened before this problem came about.

One fresh board and one board with a solderless matrix on it (both worked fine prior to 2.6 install). Both were 1.0 and this was the 11th and 12th soldered Xecuter I've done with no problems before. Both were done with pin header using 15W iron. All voltages on the LPC check out, etc.

Absolutely stumped.

A bad D0 will not cause a frag unless you damaged the board, so that can be ruled out.

Are you getting a frag or anything? Try using the standard RCA cables if you are not.

Not on this planet!
No sound No Audio can be attributed to earlier boxes, common name was a COMA CONSOLE, V1-V1.1 suffered because the bios on the TSOP was split into 4, simply installing a chip or forcing the box to use another portion of the bios cured this google for coma console...
Saying that I have had a V1.2 box which has a 1 meg TSOP do exactly the same, freezing the TSOP with artic air enables the box to boot, it is either slowing the clock speed of the TSOP down enough to sync and boot or it is pure coincidence.
Now to try and link this to an install leads to only one thing...A bad install!!! Not the X2.6 or X3.
Boxes die unfortunatly the same as PC motherboards, that is life!

No frag. I'm using the standard RCA. Oh well... I have a brand new board coming and I'm hoping everything will be fine with that.
