Ready to Flash the BIOS on banks 1,2,3,4 but can't select an option.

I'm now ready to Flash the BIOS on the X3ce - on banks 1,2,3,4 but can't select an option. Everything looks fine but for the life of me I can't figure out how I select a flashing option. I want to enable network flashing but can't select the option or any other option for that matter. What could be causing this - I have an original - wired - controller plugged into slot 1 with no other controllers attached. Is there a combination of buttons required to select an option?
Thanks in advance!

It should resond to the controller push on the D-Pad and try to press A on the Network flash option

Just be sure that you have the swtch set to the 1st 1MB bank option before you flash

If the Flashbios does not see your controller
1. Try another actual MS controller
2. Verify that the controller port cables are plugged in and seated into the motherboard

D pad connector doesn't work in any mode

I have the X3CP w/USB ports so I must have something configured wrong for pad D. Is it always pad D which controls the Cromwell BIOS?

If I do have the X3CP and USB port connectors configured wrong can you point me to a guide which shows the proper configuration.
Thanks

The USB ports will just simply plug into the motherboard
And they will only fit one way just make sure the point at whick they plug into the motherboard that they are nice and seated

Also if you have a 1.0 XBox you may also have a USB daughter card but only for the 1.0's

I don't see anywhere to plug the USB adapter cables to the motherboard

I don't see where the USB adapter(s) cable will fit on the motherboard. I have the two controlers (C and D) connected through the cable adapter which came with the X3CP. I couldn't find the guides / tutorials on connecting the USB cables so I assumed the adapter which came with the X3CP was for that purpose and would connect into the slot for the C and D controllers - this may be wrong but I can't see where I would plug the USB adapter cable onto the motherboard. Any diagrams available?
Thanks

Any thoughts on why I can't use my controllers to select BIOS menu options

I'm trying to select Cromwell BIOS menu options but none of the controller ports work with X3 enabled (so I have no way to select menu options). All controller ports work fine with the internal XBOX BIOS loaded. I thought I may not have installed the X3CP correctly with contollers C & D going into the USB cable adapter provided with the X3CP but I've confirmed this is the correct configuration.

I don't have either handy

The controllers should work for the selection of basic menu options.

Other suggestions for fixing the controller problem?

You're most likely correct but its worth asking....

You're correct but its worth asking as I didn't want to run out and buy more hardware to be used for one purpose. Although having a keyboard attached to the XBOX may serve many purposes in the future - can you let me know what they may be so I can weigh my options appropriately. Didn't mean to offend.....

Yes i suppose it is worth asking, but I have been hanging around here a while now... and the only things I've ever seen work are:

- A different controller (yes even some models of original controllers just wont work in flashbios)
- A DVD Remote 'nearly' always works, and they are handy to have for XBMC use etc.
- A USB keyboard was the last resort i heard a guy go to. He couldn't get a new controller or dvd remote so plugged in his keyboard and voila!

The reason i got a little short, is because I can guarantee you that it's not an install problem and its not a fault with your controller either. It's flashbios that causes the problem, and that project is not being updated, so you have to use the work around.

Cheers mate have fun modding /BP

I will try one of the options - I don't have many.....

I was wondering - does having a USB keyboard provide any additional functionality with applications running on the box? If it does I guess I would try the keyboard option prior to the DVD Remote option. Thanks for the help. BTW/ what is your prefered BIOS?
