Updating emunand will iirc not burn the GC fuse and you will still be abel to to mount never games that would need the GC fuse burnt when loaded into emunand, but your switch will give you an error if booted into OFW and try to play one of the newer carts that need the GC update

nogc option with hekate disable the game card reader in emunand, so that's why, with this protection cartridge games should work only on sysnand, but you say that it gives an error, so strange.

Update the emunand to 9.0/9.1 with a lower sysnand on sx os means that the gc reader in the sysnand will be useless unless you upgrade to 9.0+ the sysnand too. I want to avoid this during the update from 8.1 to 9.0, so like atmosphere does with hekate nogc prevention kippatch , (i want to do the same with sx os emunand)

Why preserve that fuse though? New games require higher and higher firmware to play. So what's the point of preservation? You want your console on the latest supported firmware. Doesn't matter if emuNAND or sysNAND, booting SX OS on 9.x will burn the fuse. But who cares? Might as well get up to date since there is no reason not to. Especially if you're already on 8.x.

i have 6.2 sys and 8.1 emu, the reason is that maybe nintendo can see if you connect your sys online in the future with lower firmware (if i decide to update the sys for online), that you burnt that gc that was supposed to be burnt in a higher firmware, that's why i'm asking how to avoid that.
