(Non Modded) Open Tray Error!

I hadnt played my 360 for a while was playing Dead Rising about 2 weeks ago, I went out had a bit of dosh got me Champions League 2006-2007 popped everything in ethernet the lot, memory card is broken so no memory, anyways 360 loads up as usual, except it goes to the dashboard, and where it usually says Reading or Play ##### it just says "Open Tray", I tried all my other 360 games and guess what the same thing, so I tries a DVD Movie works perfectly fine.

Now I used the rubberband mod and it had no effect, I was told it was my laser but how can it read DVD's fine but not my 360 games, I have no modded thing at all in my 360 apart from that rubberband I hear fixes open tray. Can someone please tell me what could be the prob, I have A Toshiba Samsung ts-h943 ms25 Drive.

Help would be great seeing as Xbox will not take console back to fix even thou they demand £70, check this they said pay us £70 but if u have tried to modify or case looks opened manually in anyway we will keep the £70 and return your console not fixed, is that no theft. All other companies outwith are expensive I want that to be a last alternative.

So Professional Xboxers please help!!!

the rubber band thing is just for modded drives.im not sure what it could.
the first thing i would do is get a different drive and see if it would work in the console.if you are not up on the modding thing there is very little anyone will be able to do .

thanx for the info i tried rubberband but to no prevail pain in the arse microconsoft are and cheeky sh*ts also, i am wanting to still play on live so not up for modding yet.

tell me thou is this problem a drive or a laser problem

Also would flashing it possibly fix my drive or is it a hardware issue..

i dont think flash8ing the drive would help. replacing the drive or laser may.you may stand the same chance of getting banned if you swap the drive.if you replace the laser i dont think m$ could tell

might go and buy a laser is the ones from china and hong kong on ebay ok or are they dodgy.... if anyone knows give us a shout, plus doesnt anyone know where i can get cable incase i broke the cable on my dvd drive when trying to replace lol

tell me if u think this is dodgy i went to a company to ask how much it will cost to fix my open tray error he said i needed to replace drive i personally think its just the laser, but nevertheless i thought ok i might go ahead, anyways before i even handed it over he responded back with we will keep your old broken dvd drive and give u a new one, why does he have to keep my old one, so he can fix the laser and sell on to some other seller, erm i dont think so when a drive is only £35 quid to buy hes charging +30 or more for services all he is doing is unscrewing and replacing stuff which aint that hard cause the 360 is like a jigsaw nothing soldered, I am gonna replace laser which i got from virtualvillage on ebay, if not thien ill replace drive, but what do u think conmen????

Replace the laser or try the pot fix. Mine did the same thing, I replaced the laser and all is good now.
