Hi

Noob to this but have soldered many things in past.

After first install the bank lights on the front would only turn red; got the 3 reboot symptom.

after doing some resoldering i now can only get the X3 chip on the mobo to light blue. the front bank indicator is not lighting at all.

i did many continuity checks with my meter.

what wires would i check to see if D0 is ok?

What wires do i check to see how to get the bank indicators turned on?

thanks,

jeff

I would like to keep this thread alive to share my experience.

To those who got it to go tthe first time I congratulate you.

I did all things as recommended but still screwed it up. My problem was withthe PCB LPC rebuild. Solder flowed underneath it and connected many of the pins together. That explains why the chip wasn't working.

Things got worse. In the process of doing my third rebuild I had a few traces lift up. Frustrating to say the least.

To save my sanity I ordered a replacemnet motherboard on ebay. I will spend a couple of weeks practicing on this cooked motherboard. Perhaps it can be rescued. I will try to rebuild some of the traces.

In the meantime I might post questions that I hope you gurus can help us newbies with.

Sorry to hear about your troubles. My friends and I have actually had great success with that LPC PCB rebuild. It was WAY easier than running the 4 wires manually (yes, we DID do this the first time). With the LPC rebuild module, we just melted a little solder on the metal contacts and allowed them to overflow off the side and into the appropriate holes. Worked like a charm !

let me say my trouble began when I first sldered DO and then I had to lift it back off to put the lpc rebuild on.

i think if it works great, but it's hard to diagnose with that rebuild pcb there.

i actually had less rouble soldering the small points like DO. I had more problems with the 16 pins in the socket.

still this mod is worth the trouble. being able to "run linux" is worth a lot IMHO 8) . So i will keep truckin on.

Old drive in new xbox?

Hello all. I've recently purchased a new xbox to replace my red ringed and banned xbox. I'd just like to know if by playing some unstealthed games offline will possibly risk getting my new drive banned should I wish to play legitimately online in the future.

Thanks
